FLAT ROCK CHARDONNAY 2004
VQA Niagara Peninsula
Tasting Note: A departure from the luxurious, creamy style many Ontario chardonnays try to achieve. Shows a spicy, highly toasted nose with lemony fruit and flinty notes. It's mid-weight, taut and crisp, even slightly austere with a warm finish. Very lively, very refreshing with a long spicy, toasty finish. Some green apple in there too. Serve with spicy grilled seafood. Very Good. (David Lawrason, www.winerytohome.com, June 2005)

AC
(Henri Boiron & Olivier Hillaire, Prop.-Récolt.)
Tasting Note: The 2003 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is surprisingly elegant in a vintage that produced relatively muscular, full wines. It displays sweet cherries intermixed with some hints of nori (the sushi wrapper) and plenty of spice and pepper in addition to some noticeable herbaceous notes. The wine is drinking well, and should continue to do so for at least 5-7 years. Score - 88. (Robert Parker Jr., www.erobertparker.com, Feb. 2006)

TERUZZI & PUTHOD VERNACCIA DI SAN GIMIGNANO 2005
DOCG
In 1974, Enrico Teruzzi and his wife Carmen Puthod knew little about wine when they purchased a one hectare vineyard in Italy's first DOC, Vernaccia di San Gimignano. With no links to regional traditions, they were able to produce a fresh take on this trademark white wine. Teruzzi was the first to introduce the use of stainless steel temperature controlled vats here. He also experimented with oak ageing for some of his single vineyard wines. Today, the company controls 185 hecatres, 92 of which are under vine. Expect a racy, whistlingly clean and refreshing aperitif wine.
