THE
GLENROTHES 'SELECT RESERVE' SPEYSIDE SINGLE MALT
(Berry Bros. & Rudd)

LAKEVIEW
CELLARS CABERNET FRANC 2002
VQA Niagara Peninsula
Tasting Note: Still a little closed, it shows signs of black cherry
and blackberry on the nose ... the taste, once you get past the thick
tannin grip, is black - as in berry and raspberry; but there is an
underlying sweetness that is apparent right at the tail-end in the
back palate. Given some time, this is going to be a dazzler of a wine.
I would recommend another 2 to 5 years of ageing, and then it'll be
smooth as silk and mighty tasty too because there's lots of promise
in this bottle right now. (Michael Pinkus, www.ontariowinereview.com,

Marlborough, South Island
Tasting Note: A whiff of refreshing sea air, mineral and white
pepper hits the nose, leading to a surprisingly rich, full-bodied palate
of lime, grapefruit and gooseberry. The long finish has hints of chalk
and white pepper. Score - **1/2 (out of 4). (Linda

GRAHAM
BECK 'GAMEKEEPER'S RESERVE' CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2004
WO Robertson
Graham Beck makes this stellar wine only in the best years.
Tasting Note: Deep ruby colour starts this fine wine off on
the right foot. The aromas are equally impressive, with a cornucopia
of scents including blueberry, cedar, chocolate mint, spicy plum
and new leather. It is dry, sweet centred, but with a lovely core
of tannin, toasty oak and acid for near perfect balance. Medium full-bodied
and long finishing, this wine is made for roast beef, lamb or game
meats. (VINTAGES panel, July 2006)

sacrifices no detail or precision in the bargain. The medium full flavors
are impressively concentrated and superbly intense with mouth watering
punch and huge length. In short, this is of grand cru quality. Drink

POTEL GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN 2003
AC
Nicolas Potel takes a different approach than most négociants.
He buys grapes, not juice, from the same seven growers. These growers
have old vines and Potel purchases everything they produce thus ensuring
quality. Old vine grapes in very hot years, like 2003, end up being
much better balanced and 'complete' than those made with younger
vine wines. Serve this wine tonight with a fine veal roast, or let
it mature for 3-7 years in a cellar.

MADES
RIESLING SPÄTLESE 2003
QmP, Bacharacher Wolfshöhle, Estate Btld.
It is generally held that no other region in Germany makes such
a wide selection of racy Rieslings as the Mittelrhein. However, products
on offer outside this tiny district are rare as hen's teeth. At the
small Mades winery (only 2.5 ha) the yields are low (48 hl/ha) and
the grapes grow on extremely steep, south-facing hillsides made of
slate. The finished wines show a beautiful balance between lush fruit
and crisp acids. They also tend to be very long-lived. Enjoy it tonight
with spicy Asian food or age it 5+ years.

NAOUSSA 'GRANDE RÉSERVE' 2000
AO Naoussa
Tasting Note: Made with the indigenous Xinomauro grape (stylistically
similar to Piedmont's Nebbiolo), this version has vibrant aromas of
spice, dried currant, cranberry, leather and paraffin. It is dry and
assertive with good tannins still holding around the ripe fruit. It
has the austerity of a fine Barolo and will reward cellar time (3-5+
years), but may also be enjoyed now with moussaka and grilled lamb. (VINTAGES

'PRIMOVOLO'
ROSSO 2001
Table Wine of Italy
PrimoVolo is a multi-regional blend. The Merlot is from Count Giordano
Emo Capodilista's La Montecchhia Veneto property, the Barbera is
from Andrea Faccio's Villa Giada property in Piedmont and the Sangiovese
is from Sergio Zingarelli's Rocca delle Macìe Tuscan vineyards.
As it is multi-regional, this can only be called a table wine.
Tasting Note: The 2001 ... It's rich, with powerful red berry
fruit, a mix of cherries and black currant ... The finish is long
