Oregon is a mecca for Pinot Noir lovers around the
world. Winemaking here is not for the faint of
heart: The cooling influences of the Pacific Ocean
puts the Willamette Valley at the extreme edge of
viticulture, but, as in Burgundy, this gamble results
in wines that offer more depth, complexity and
nuance. Artisanal winemakers, like Andrew Rich,
dot the landscape and are crafting fascinating
individual expressions of place. Our Benchmark is
classic cool climate Pinot, featuring ripe red
fruit, spice and earthy notes supported by crisp
acids and fine tannins.
