These intense, flavourful wines are

great with intense, flavourful foods.

Hearty stews, rich cheeses, thick-cut

steaks and slow-cooked meats are

particularly good pairings. They also

have the oomph to stand up to dark

chocolate and moderately spiced dishes

(which tend to overpower any but this

blockbuster style of red wine).
