WILDASS RIESLING 2016

6

VQA Niagara Peninsula

(Stratus Vineyards)

TASTING NOTE: The popularity of Wildass with

Vintages customers is a relationship that has been

built upon the consistency and character of the

wines. TheWildass Riesling delights again in 2016.

It’s floral, with nicely articulated apple, lemon-lime,

peach, grapefruit and impressive mineral tones.

Mouthwateringly crisp and fresh, with a ripe, off-dry

sensibility. Ideal for seafood. (Vintages panel,

May 2017)

POPLAR GROVE PINOT GRIS 2016

6

BC VQA Okanagan Valley

TASTING NOTE: Poplar Grove has always had a

high reputation for pinot gris. With its lemony colour,

delightful lemon curd aromas, and mouthfilling

flavour, the 2016 shows why. On the palate it is

minerally and herbal, with an appealing briney oyster

shell character that adds complexity in a very

satisfyingly finish. Score:

Gold Medal winner at the National Wine Awards of

Canada 2017.

TASTING NOTE: This is quite lovely, combining ripe

2027 CELLARS QUEENSTON ROAD

VINEYARD PINOT NOIR 2013

6

VQA St. David’s Bench, Niagara-on-the-Lake

TASTING NOTE: Alluring aromas of cedar, exotic

spice/incense and black Bing cherry open a complex,

structured Pinot with depth and elegance. Amedium-

bodied, nicely textured stream of red currant, dark

berry fruit and pomegranate interweave with chalky

minerality and beetroot on the palate. Good tension,

persistent purity of fruit and deft balance define this

incrediblywell-crafted red – it was indigenous-yeast

fermented, aged 14 months in French-oak barriques,

30% new. Artisan-winemaker Kevin Panagapka hits

all the high notes in this symphony of harmonious

aromas and flavours. Score:
