LOIRE

DONATIEN BAHUAUD LES GRANDS

MORTIERS VOUVRAY 2016

AC

Donatien Bahuaud founded this estate in 1929.

From a family of clog makers, coopers and grape

growers, Bahuaud was determined to see Muscadet

reclaim its former glory – it had been a favourite of

British royalty and the French aristocracy during the

Renaissance. This will be crafted in a classic off-dry

style and is typically a refined, high-toned expression

with mineral, pear and peach alongside the distinc-

tive waxy notes that define these wines. Expect this

to be bright and vibrant with plenty of food-friendly

acidity keeping the sweetness in balance. Enjoy with

scallops or lightly spiced mango chicken.

for this super-balanced, playful white. Score:

BURGUNDY

LA CHABLISIENNE GRANDE CUVÉE

CHABLIS 1

ER

CRU 2015

AC

Chablis’s 2015 vintage began with a rainy May

followed by a very hot June, with stormy weather

mid-month. July and August were hot and dry,

promoting favourable stress on the vines. The resulting

wines are ripe and generous, more so than those

of 2014, and early indications are that they will drink

exceptionally well when young and will continue to

do so well into the mid to late ’20s. You can expect the

Grande Cuvée Chablis Premier Cru to demonstrate

this wine’s typical purity and elegance, with impressive

aromatics, citrus and oyster shell notes and steely

minerality.

MARIE-PIERRE MANCIAT

LES PETITES BRUYÈRES

POUILLY-FUISSÉ 2016

AC

TASTING NOTE: Marie-Pierre Manciat took control

of her family estate in 2002, becoming the sixth

generation of her family to work the vines (they’ve

been making wine since 1871). This wine comes

from clay and limestone soils and offers ripe, forward

fruit. It’s lively and crisp, with apple, banana, tropical

notes, baking spice and some butter and cream tones.

Rich, aromatic and luxuriously flavourful. (Vintages
