SPARKLING WINE

CONT’D

BAILLY-LAPIERRE CHARDONNAY BRUT

CRÉMANT DE BOURGOGNE

Traditional method, AC, Burgundy, France

TASTINGNOTE: Really classic gander into the stoicism

of straightforward, easy on the nose, mouth and eyes

Bourgogne fizz. From parcels only 45 minutes as the

crow flies from Champagne, if this isn’t the most

consistent producer of such Crémant I’d like to meet

the other. Terrific comfortably tart chardonnaywith the

type of personality to act as a long, smooth finisher.

Always conditions the expected and completes the

effort. Imagine the possibilities for increasing quality in

the newly established ‘Eminent’ and ‘Grand Eminent’

categories. Drink 2016-2019. Score:

90

LABOURÉ-GONTARD BRUT

CRÉMANT DE BOURGOGNE

Traditional method, AC, Burgundy, France

TASTINGNOTE: This is an enticing example of Crémant

de Bourgogne made from a blend of Chardonnay and

Pinot Noir. Fresh floral, lemon and apple aromas are

enhanced by light notes of brioche, toast and almond

paste. The wine is dry, with bracing acidity, modest

alcohol, and a slightly creamy texture. Lots of freshness

with red apple ripeness on the palate, and the finish is

crisp, tart and toasty. Very pleasant and well-made.

VEUVE AMBAL GRANDE CUVÉE BRUT

ROSÉ CRÉMANT DE BOURGOGNE

Traditional method, AC, Burgundy, France

TASTING NOTE: Clean, quite fresh and fruity, this is

a lively, essentially dry, crémant rosé from Burgundy.

It’s nicely mid-weight and crunchy, with modest

yeasty-biscuity flavours; this is more about the red

berry fruit. Good to very good length. Score:

CA’ DEL BOSCO CUVÉE PRESTIGE BRUT

FRANCIACORTA

Traditional method, DOCG, Lombardy, Italy

TASTING NOTE: The NV Franciacorta Cuvée Prestige

Brut is packaged in a squat and transparent bottle.

This beautiful sparkling wine shows a unique aromatic

profilewith spicy notes of spearmint and fresh oregano

leaf that pop to the top. Beyond those vertical aromas

are heavier tones of stone fruit, honeydewmelon and

blanched almond. This Franciacorta (75%Chardonnay,

10% Pinot Bianco and 15% Pinot Nero) offers spicy

and vibrant aromatic tones that you don’t find in its

peers. Drink Date: 2017-2024. Score:

TASTING NOTE: This fun, tasty sparkler is sourced

from sustainably and organically farmed sites found

in the classic Prosecco zone in foothills between the

ENTERIZO BRUT NATURE CAVA

Traditional method, DO, Spain

(Covinas)

TASTING NOTE: Primarily Macabeo with Xarello and

Parellada, this Cava offers tremendous value. Sourced

from limestone and clay soils, it is floral with a notable

grapefruit citrus tone on the nose and baked bread

autolytic notes. The plate is fresh and crisp, with stone

fruit and mineral tones. Excellent integration and

balance with good length. A nice value alternative to

Champagne for your holiday celebrations. (Vintages
