NEW ZEALAND

– REDWINE

CLOS HENRI PINOT NOIR 2015

Marlborough, South Island

TASTING NOTE: This wine was grown in the clay

soils of Marlborough’s Southern Valley, which are

said to contribute textural smoothness to Pinot Noir.

This one shows bright cherry and raspberry fruit

backed by vanilla and chocolaty notes, with good

ripeness and underlying structure. Pair with beef or

lamb medallions in a red wine sauce. (Vintages

panel, May 2017)

CATHEDRAL CELLAR TRIPTYCH 2014

WOWestern Cape

(KWV)

TASTING NOTE: KWV, the company behind Cathedral

Cellar, was founded by South African wine farmers in

1918 – the year Nelson Mandela was born – and has

been a central part of that country’s wine history ever

since. This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon,

Shiraz, Malbec and other varieties and is aged more

than a year in oak. It offers loads of dark cherry,

raspberry and plum fruit with earthy, savoury spice

and toffee shadings. Pour it with mildly spiced bobotie

(South African meat pie) or beef empanadas.

DELHEIM SHIRAZ 2013

WO Stellenbosch

TASTING NOTE: A delicious shiraz, spicy but also

rich and ripe. Lovely fruit and elegant peppery notes.

Enveloping and comforting but also offering great

complexity for the price. Oak treatment is a touch on

the sweet side but this can be dealt with by some

light chilling. Great length. Ready to drink. Tasted

June 2016. Score:

90
