PAOLO CONTERNO BRICCO

BARBERA D’ASTI 2015

DOCG

TASTING NOTE: This wine is sourced from 25-year-

old vines planted in loam, clay and carbonate soils,

and the grapes are macerated for 10-12 days. It de-

livers Barbera’s concentrated tangy red fruit character

and then some. Leather, earth, dried fruit, herbal and

spice tones combine to make for a layered, complex

wine. There’s also plenty of food-friendly acidity. This

is round and smooth, with a fine tension and elegance.

Really blossoms with air. A great choice for a hearty

winter stew, or pasta with a meaty sauce. (Vintages

panel, Oct. 2017)

PUGLIA

AMASTUOLA PRIMITIVO 2014

IGP Puglia

Organic farming is just one of the innovations

Amastuola, a leader in redefining Puglia winemaking,

has introduced. They are one of the most exciting

new voices in this historic region.

TASTING NOTE: Good primitivo. Black berry and

other dark fruits, and a spicey finish with just enough

tannin. Score:

CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014

IGT Rubicone

TASTING NOTE: This is always a winning, elegant

wine. A blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet, this

2014 delivers a lush, round experience, with dark

fruit atop a refined, structured frame. Just lovely.

This will be perfect for a meat-based stew. (Vintages

PIEDMONT

ASCHERI

BAROLO 2012

DOCG

TASTING NOTE: Licorice, cherry and tar notes

mark this intense, chewy red, packed with sweet fruit

midpalate that offsets the dense, dusty tannins.

Shows fine integration and length, with the aftertaste

echoing licorice, cherry, tar and mineral details. Best

from 2019 through 2035. Highly Recommended.
