Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
(June 7 Release)
The Details:
The wines of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano are an archetypal expression of the great Tuscan variety, Sangiovese, the same grape used in Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino. British wine critic Jancis Robinson, M.W., describes them as having the capacity to be “majestic and noble”. The warmer climate and east- and southeast-facing vineyards of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano enables producers, such as Crociani, to turn out stellar wines from this temperamental grape. Fuller-bodied and bolder than wines from nearby Chianti Classico, they are closer in style to Brunello di Montalcino but at a fraction of the price.
