This 20-year-old Port has an attractive nose with layers of sour red fruits, dried fruits, sweet herbs and spices. Very rich, very complex and very well-balanced. Enjoy this around a crackling fire with mature cheeses and nuts.

The fact that 1998 was not a universally 'declared year' for vintage port did not stop some superb wines from being made. Just because a year is not generally 'called' doesn't mean good wines are not made. Some producers, such as Quinta do Estanho, were blessed with ideal conditions. The fruit here is complex and the tannins are very precise, suggesting great ageability for about 8-10 years. Give it the time and then enjoy it with foie gras or your favourite mature cheeses.
