CHÂTEAU MALARTIC-LAGRAVIÈRE 2012
AC Pessac-Léognan, Grand Cru Classé

463117 (XD) 750mL $89.00

TASTING NOTE: This large estate of 131 acres has been run brilliantly by a Belgian family, the Bonnies since their acquisition a number of years ago. The quality of the white and red have soared to exceptional heights, and this is certainly still one of the more realistically priced wines of Pessac-Lèognan and classified crus. The 2012 is a beauty, with a dense ruby/purple color, a fabulously plush, opulent texture and medium to full-bodied flavors of cassis, spicy earth and blueberry. Quite rich, yet light on its feet, this is an absolutely textbook Pessac-Lèognan, with wonderfully velvety tannins. Drink it now, or drink it in 25 years. This is a brilliant wine. Score: 94 (Robert Parker Jr., erobertparker.com, April 2015)

CLOS CANON 2010
Second wine of Château Canon, AC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

671289 (XD) 750mL $67.00

TASTING NOTE: A young red with bitter chocolate and berry character. Full body, with fine tannins and a medium finish. Refined and very pretty. The second wine of Canon. Hard not to drink now, but better in 2016. Score: 92 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Feb. 18, 2013)

CHÂTEAU DUHART-MILON 2009
AC Pauillac, Grand Cru Classé

99424 (XD) 750mL $200.00

TASTING NOTE: A blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon and 37% Merlot, it displays an inky/blue/purple color as well as a big, sweet nose of creme de cassis, forest floor, licorice, lead pencil, cedar and subtle barrique smells. Viscous and full-bodied, it is the most concentrated and broadest example of this cuvee I have tasted in over three decades. It will be ready to drink in 5-7 years and should last for three decades or more. Consumers looking to maximize value should be checking out Duhart Milon, as this may be the single smartest purchase in this great and historic vintage! Drink: 2017-2047. Score: 97 (Robert Parker Jr., erobertparker.com, Feb. 2012)

LOUIS JADOT POMMARD CLOS DE LA COMMARAINE 1ER CRU 2012
AC

278713 (XD) 750mL $94.00

TASTING NOTE: While this is a structured wine, it also has a wonderful series of perfumed aromas and ripe, full-bodied fruits. The Commarine vineyard, with its deep and well-drained soil, produces the classic dense wine of Pommard while also allowing for a more fruity, accessible style when young. But best to drink this from 2019. Score: 94 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 2014)

VINCENT GIRARDIN MEURSAULT LES NARVAUX 2013
AC

938365 (XD) 750mL $73.00

TASTING NOTE: An expressive nose featuring airy and notably cool notes of citrus, pear and floral scents introduces nicely intense middle weight flavors that exude a lovely minerality on the punchy finale that exhibits plenty of citrus character. This is a fine Meursault villages that will need a few years to unwind and harmonize but it should be at least very good. Drink: 2018+. Score: 88-91 (Allen Meadows, burghound.com, June 15, 2015)

LA CHABLISIENNE CHÂTEAU GRENOUILLES CHABLIS GRAND CRU 2011
AC

82974 (XD) 750mL $99.00

TASTING NOTE: Château Grenouilles is crafted from a portion of the Grenouilles Grand Cru Vineyard that is wholly owned by La Chablisienne. It produces its flagship wine: dense, powerful and concentrated, with a strong mineral and racy texture. It's destined for a long life thanks to its woody richness and tight acidity. Drink from 2018. Ranked #66 on the 2014 Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Cellar Selections. Score: 95 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 2014)

VINCENT GIRARDIN PULIGNY-MONTRACHET LES REFERTS 1ER CRU 2011
AC

91629 (XD) 750mL $105.00

TASTING NOTE: The wonderful combination of ripe fruit and acidity makes 2011 such a good white wine Burgundy vintage. This is an excellent example, with yellow fruit and toast flavors that are cut through with an intensely refreshing tang of lemon and orange zest. Drinkable when young, it is going to age, certainly until 2022. Score: 93 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, June 2014)

LOU COUCARDIÉ ROUGE 2011
AC Costierès de Nîmes

39230 (XD) 750mL $35.00

TASTING NOTE: The richest and most concentrated cuvee, the 2011 Costieres De Nimes Lou Coucardie, which was bottled earlier in the year, offers up aromas and flavors of ripe black fruits, chocolate, graphite, licorice and hints of smoked herbs. A blend of 48% Mourvedre, 30% Grenache and 22% Syrah that spent 12-18 months in French oak, it is a serious, layered and textured effort that was hard to spit. While hard to resist now, it should have a broad drink window as well. Drink: N/A. Score: 93 (Jeb Dunnuck, erobertparker.com, Dec. 2013)

NICOLAS FEUILLATTE CUVÉE PALMES D'OR BRUT CHAMPAGNE 2006
AC

732743 (D) 750mL $150.00

TASTING NOTE: An elegant Champagne that offers flavors of poached pear, candied kumquat and dried cherry on a delicate mousse. Well-cut, with a lingering, mineral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2026. Score: 93 (Alison Napjus, winespectator.com, Nov. 30, 2015)

BARONS DE ROTHSCHILD BRUT ROSÉ CHAMPAGNE
AC

263723 (XD) 750mL $102.00

TASTING NOTE: Firm and minerally, with chalk and smoke notes underscoring white raspberry, candied lemon zest, smoked walnut and honey flavors riding the delicate, lacy texture. Drink now through 2018. Score: 91 (Alison Napjus, winespectator.com, 2015)

STEFANIA PEPE ROSSO MONTEPULCIANO RISERVA 2003
DOCG

459792 (XD) 750mL $99.00

In 1964, Emidio Pepe was the first wine grower to bet on the quality of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo; in 1997, his daughters began to experiment by updating the company's winemaking techniques while remaining faithful to the family's traditional methods; in 2003, Stefania Pepe built the three-level gravity-flow winery where this wine was made. The vineyards are farmed biodynamically and the wine is naturally fermented, using ambient wild yeasts and no added sulphur, before being bottled unfiltered.

PAOLO CONTERNO GINESTRA RISERVA BAROLO 2007
DOCG

954677 (XD) 750mL $115.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2007 Barolo Riserva Ginestra is born in extremely difficult conditions. Fruit is sourced from a hillside plot with impossibly steep inclines and shallow soils (with white tufo and clay) for limited root penetration. These factors help curb the natural vigor of the grapevine and result in high quality fruit. This wine sees a long maceration period (up to 40 days) and almost six years of barrel aging in botte grande. The results are spectacular with rich floral and menthol aromas folded within the wine's silky texture. This 2007 Riserva feels much younger than it really is. Drink: 2016-2035. Score: 96 (Monica Larner, erobertparker.com, July 2014)

POGGIO SCALETTE IL CARBONAIONE 2012
IGT Alta Valle della Greve

719872 (XD) 750mL $70.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2012 Il Carbonaione comes across as quite shy and reserved today, with less of its typical exuberance. That just makes me think the wine is going to need a few years to blossom. Sweet red cherry, plum, kirsch, spice and rose petal nuances gradually emerge from the glass, but the 2012 remains reticent and not fully expressive. I would not be surprised to see the market look past the 2012, as it is not at all showy, but that will just create an opportunity for savvy consumers. There is plenty to look forward to. Readers will have to be patient, though. Over the years, Il Carbonaione has built a tremendous track record of aging very well. Next to Chianti Classico's other 100% Sangioveses, Carbonaione is made in a sweeter, jammier style with more mid-palate opulence. Although showy in its youth, Carbonaione needs time in bottle to show at its best. Drink: 2020-2032. Score: 95 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, July 2015)

CASTELLO DI AMA HAIKU 2011
IGT Toscana

456038 (XD) 750mL $60.00

TASTING NOTE: Representing a big step forward in the overall stylistic identity of this delicious wine, the 2011 Haiku really blew me away. Haiku is mostly Sangiovese blended with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Compared to the 2010 vintage, this edition is much richer and more fleshed out. I tasted this next to the 2010 that offers less volume and richness. This is a complete and generous expression with soft cherry layers that wrap thickly over the palate. Spice, leather and balsam herb drive the long, luscious finish. Castello di Ama performs very nicely in the warmer vintages, thanks to its high altitude vineyards. Drink: 2015-2024. Score: 92+ (Monica Larner, erobertparker.com, Oct. 2015)

CASTELLARE DI CASTELLINA I SODI DI S. NICCOLÒ 2010
IGT Toscana

336560 (XD) 750mL $84.00

TASTING NOTE: Ripe cherry kirsch, crème de cassis, spice, warm wood and panna cotta. A rich mouthfeel and a creamy texture. Hedonistic, full-bodied and robust. Drink in 2016. Score: 96 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Oct. 20, 2014)

FULIGNI BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2010
DOCG

245225 (XD) 750mL $84.00

TASTING NOTE: I really appreciate the dark-berry and burnt-orange aromas that follow through to a full body, very integrated tannins and a ripe, juicy fruit character. Savory, succulent and salty. Hints of chocolate and salted nuts. So juicy and gorgeous. A fabulous red. Drink now but also hold for years ahead. Score: 98 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Jan. 19, 2015)

RENIERI RISERVA BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2010
DOCG

328229 (XD) 750mL $115.00

TASTING NOTE: A young Brunello with precision and complexity showing violets, blackberries, bramble berries, tea leaf and minerals. Stone undertones, too. Full body, a compressed palate and firm and velvety tannins. Powerful and long. Truly fantastic. Breathtaking. Better in 2018. Score: 100 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Oct. 2015)

TABARRINI COLLE GRIMALDESCO MONTEFALCO SAGRANTINO 2011
DOCG

320234 (D) 750mL $54.00

TASTING NOTE: A rich red, with real muscle from the burly tannins, featuring a core of iron-tinged minerality and flavors of fig cake, raspberry ganache, wild herb, olive and ground peppercorn that should become more expressive with time in the cellar. Best from 2019 through 2029. Score: 92 (Alison Napjus, winespectator.com, April 30, 2016)

TEDESCHI CAPITEL MONTE OLMI RISERVA AMARONE DELLA VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO 2009
DOC

964403 (D) 750mL $80.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2009 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Capitel Monte Olmi is a wine of massive proportions and aspirations. This vintage marks the first time that this single-vineyard Amarone Classico is a Riserva. Capitel Monte Olmi sees a meticulous blend of up to eight indigenous grapes, all aged 48 months in barrel. It would be hard to exaggerate just how big this wine is. It shows its muscle in terms of chewy sweetness as well as the tightness of tannins that you normally do not encounter in Amarone. In fact, the wine is so big, it requires at least five more years of bottle aging to reach better integration. Drink: 2015-2030. Score: 95 (Monica Larner, erobertparker.com, Feb. 2015)

MONTE DA RAVASQUEIRA VINHAS DAS ROMÃS 2013
Vinho Regional Alentejano

460790 (XD) 750mL $40.00

TASTING NOTE: SA: A burnish of toasty oak to nose and palate, juicy black fruits, round, sweet ripe tannins, with spice. Well done. (95) JL:Dense, dark, brooding and tight-knit aroma. Ripe black plum and creamy oak dominate on the palate, but the wine is in balance, with supple texture and good length. (95) NO: Sophisticated, understated wine, with dusty tannins, and subtle red fruit. Elegant. (95) Drink: 2016-2021. Score: 95 (Tasting panel, Decanter, May 2016)

PEGASO BARRANCOS DE PIZARRA 2010
DO Toro

172254 (XD) 750mL $50.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2010 Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra is produced with Garnacha from old, head-pruned vineyards in the village of Cebreros, province of Ávila, one of the few places in the Gredos mountain range where some soils are slate-based; the majority of Gredos is composed of granite found at different levels of decomposition, often in the shape of sand. The wine feels very young, and when uncorked it has a lactic note that denotes youth. The fruit is a mixture of red and black berries with some aromatic, balsamic herbs and a mineral hint. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and framed by round, fine-grained tannins. There's a little bit of a bitter taste toward the end. This needs a little bit more time than the granite bottling as the wine is fuller and you feel the effect of the oak a little more. For comparison I also tasted the 2004 vintage, which felt riper, more concentrated and more obviously oaked (it was a different time then) as it still shows notes of smoke and spices. Still, it's youthful and showing very few signs of evolution, which should give an idea about how the more balanced, current vintages might age. The wine keeps changing in the glass and at times I preferred the nose to the granite bottling. Though the palate remains a bit harsh, in the long run this will be the better wine. It showed better on day two. Super! Drink: 2016-2024. Score: 94 (Luis Gutierrez, erobertparker.com, Oct. 2014)

SIERRA CANTABRIA COLECCIÓN PRIVADA 2007
DOCa Rioja

195735 (XD) 750mL $70.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2007 Sierra Cantabria Coleccion Privada was aged for 18 months in new French and American oak. It offers up a sexy, kinky, exceptionally perfumed nose of sandalwood, incense, violets, truffle, and wild black berries. Opulent and succulently-fruited on the palate, this already complex wine will blossom over the next 5-6 years and offer a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2027 if not longer. Drink: 2015-2027. Score: 94 (Jay Miller, erobertparker.com, June 2010)

KILIKANOON TREGEA RESERVE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2012
Clare Valley

459057 (XD) 750mL $50.00

TASTING NOTE: Deep, bright ruby. Highly fragrant bouquet evokes dark fruit liqueur, potpourri, mocha and pipe tobacco, with a sexy oak spice note in the background. Smooth and expansive on the palate, offering intense cherry-vanilla and bitter chocolate flavors that are nicely lifted and sharpened by tangy acidity. Shows a real push/pull of richness and vivacity and finishes smoky, sweet and very long. Score: 93 (Josh Raynolds, vinous.com, July 2014)

MOUNT PLEASANT LOVEDALE SEMILLON 2010
Hunter Valley

237982 (XD) 750mL $61.00

TASTING NOTE: Still as fresh as a daisy, its freshness accentuated by a touch of CO2 spritz deliberately left in the wine; the result is an unusual conjunction of delicacy and intensity, the explanation lying in its purity. It is truly difficult to visualise the end point of a semillon such as this. Seven gold medals. Drink By: 2035. Score: 97 (James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au, Nov. 16, 2015)

PAHLMEYER MERLOT 2013
Napa Valley

978023 (D) 750mL $138.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2013 Merlot is dark, powerful and also quite tannic, all signatures of the vintage. Black cherry, mocha, graphite, plum, smoke, licorice and menthol are bold and intense in the glass, but the 2013 is only showing a hint of its potential. Far from an easygoing Merlot, Pahlmeyer's 2013 is going to need time to be fully expressive. This is a rare vintage that is 100% Merlot. Most of the fruit in the 2013 is estate grown, with a dollop of grapes (15%) from Rancho Chimiles in Coombsville. Drinking window: 2018-2023. Score: 93 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, Sept. 2015)

DOMINUS 2012
Napa Valley

466177 (XD) 750mL $318.00

TASTING NOTE: The exuberance and drama in the stunning nose of the dense plum-colored 2012 Dominus offers up notes of Asian spice, ripe, black currants, kirsch, tobacco leaf and Christmas fruitcake. It is full-bodied and opulent, with no hard edges, a seamless integration of acidity, wood and tannin and a density and richness that are built to go on for 25-30 years. Score: 98+ (Robert Parker Jr., erobertparker.com, Oct. 2015)

DONUM ESTATE GROWN PINOT NOIR 2012
Russian River Valley

311506 (XD) 750mL $120.00

TASTING NOTE: Offers depth, richness, complexity and length, with tiers of vibrant raspberry, anise and blackberry. Gains depth and traction, ending with gripping tannins that hold the flavors in place. Toasty oak nuances show on the aftertaste. Drink now through 2023. Score: 92 (James Laube, winespectator.com, April 30, 2015)

GUNDLACH-BUNDSCHU VINTAGE RESERVE RED 2012
Sonoma Valley

395673 (D) 750mL $166.00

TASTING NOTE: I assume the 2012 Proprietary Red Vintage Reserve comes from the winery's finest lots. It is no wimpy wine at 14.9% natural alcohol and appears to be made from Bordeaux varietals. It demonstrates that like Napa, Sonoma can also make exquisite, full-throttle, multidimensional, big, rich red wines. This dense purple-colored effort possesses oodles of blackberry and cassis fruit, hints of charcoal and background oak, attractive glycerin and a full-bodied opulence. It is still primary, but offers beautiful purity, density and full-bodied power. Give it another 1-2 years to develop additional nuances, and drink it over the next two decades. Score: 94+ (Robert Parker Jr., erobertparker.com, Dec. 2014)

HUNDRED ACRE ARK VINEYARD CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2012
Napa Valley

456046 (XD) 750mL $616.00

TASTING NOTE: A perfect wine is the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Arc Vineyard from Woodbridge's property on Howell Mountain. This is an amazingly deep, rich, blueberry, blackberry and mulberry scented and flavored wine with skyscraper-like texture, remarkable intensity, again great, great purity, and the new oak completely concealed by the lavish and extravagant amounts of fruit. One hundred percent Cabernet Sauvignon, as are all these wines, the Ark Vineyard is certainly another blockbuster wine with no hard edges that comes across like a flawlessly constructed dress from an haute couture house in Paris. It should drink well for 25-30 years as well. Score: 100 (Robert Parker Jr., erobertparker.com, Aug. 2015)

LANGE ESTATE PINOT NOIR 2012
Dundee Hills

438465 (XD) 750mL $114.00

TASTING NOTE: Plush and generous, light-footed but expansive, with a hint of crème brûlée to the plum, currant and spice flavors that take off and float through the long, enticing finish. The tannins are well-absorbed. Drink now through 2022. 350 cases made. Score: 94 (Harvey Steiman, winespectator.com, Feb. 28, 2015)

TAYLOR FLADGATE SINGLE HARVEST TAWNY PORT 1966
DOP

393009 (S) 750mL $300.00

TASTING NOTE: The 1966 Single Harvest Tawny Port (i.e., a Colheita) is a traditional blend, aged in French and American oak. It comes in at 183 grams per liter of residual sugar. Surprisingly rich and fresh, this seems younger than its age. The complexity here is not quite as great as with some and the nuances of molasses and the like are controlled. On the other side of the coin, it has a rather sensual texture, finishing with a sugary burst. Underneath is the expected acidity and a bit of pop. Overall, it is rather seductive and quite delicious. Note that this will be released in January 2016, part of Taylor's old Colheita releases. Drink: 2016-2045. Score: 94 (Mark Squires, erobertparker.com, Dec. 2015)
