DELORD 25SYEARSOLD

BAS ARMAGNAC

AC, France

Family-owned and -run, Delord was

founded in 1893 by the aptly named

Prosper Delord. Prosper was a travelling

distiller, carting his portable pot-still

from farm to farm and producing

armagnac on-site. Today, Delord produces

armagnac from small, antique sier

alembic stills that produce roughly 30 L

of Bas armagnac each hour. The Delord

25-year-old incorporates suggestions

of leather, toffee, caramel, vanilla and nuts

from its time in barrel. This will be an

elegant and complex expression of this

classic style.

RÉMYMARTIN LOUIS XIII GRANDE

CHAMPAGNE COGNAC

In gift box, AC, France

The RémyMartin Louis xIII is as close to

magic in a bottle as one could hope for.

Though the

Wine Enthusiast

reviewbelow is

from2007, it does reflect the enchanting

assortment of floral, spice and fruit notes that

will be found here. Long live the King, indeed.

TaSTING NOTE:

The aroma features

fig, prune, pastry dough, honey and maple

scents. On palate, Louis xIII offers long

and intensely woody flavors; additional

layers of flavor, including figs, dates,

prunes, dried apricot and vanilla, are

featured at midpalate. Finishes elegantly,

warm, smooth and more oaky than fruity

succulent. Only minor rancio. Score:

92

Eau-DE-VIE

CHRISTIAN DROUIN VSOP

CALVADOS PAYS D’AUGE

AC, France

TaSTING NOTE:

Lush notes of salted

butterscotch, maple and pear play against

a drying core of oak; more fruit comes

through on the finish. Relatively full-bodied,

with a buttery, palate-coating feel.
