9 VINTAGES

CÔTE CHALONNAISE

RED WINE

DOMAINE FRANÇOIS LUMPP GIVRY

LA BRÛLÉE 1

ER

CRU 2015

AC

TASTING NOTE: A notably ripe yet slightly

more elegant nose displays essence

of black cherry, cassis and spice aromas

that are trimmed in just enough oak to

mention. There is excellent richness to

the dense and relatively powerful but

elegant medium-bodied flavors that also

possess a lush and lingering finish. Drink:

2019+. Score:

88-91

WHITE WINE

DOMAINE FRANÇOIS LUMPP GIVRY

CLOS DES VIGNES RONDES 2015

AC

François Lumpp began his viticultural

career in 1977 and founded his own

label in 1991 with his wife, Isabelle.

All of his wines are from Givry, from

vineyards that he himself has planted

and cared for – a rare situation in

Burgundy. His wines are characterful and

refined and, though ageable, are typically

crafted to be approachable young. He

has established a considerable reputation

for his white wines. You can expect

this wine to be floral with suggestions

of pear, apple and white peach with

a rich and lush mouthfeel.

MÂCONNAIS

WHITE WINE

JEAN RIJCKAERT VERS CHÂNES

VIEILLES VIGNES POUILLY FUISSÉ

2014

AC

TASTING NOTE: The small village

of Chânes lies in the south of the

appellation, well exposed to the sun.

That shows in this warm wine with its

ripe apple and pear flavor. Wood aging

adds richness, filling out the rich fruits

with toast. This generous wine will age

another year. Drink from 2017.

Editors’ Choice. Score:

93

E. GUIGAL VIGNES DE L’HOSPICE

SAINT-JOSEPH 2014

AC

TASTING NOTE: Solid, with an alluring

core of lightly steeped plum, anise,

blackberry and boysenberry flavors

that rolls through, picking up dark tea

and warm fruitcake hints along the

way. Shows a light echo of apple wood

on the finish. Drink now through

2027. Score:

M. CHAPOUTIER LES ARÈNES

CORNAS 2014

AC

TASTING NOTE: The 2014 Cornas

Les Arenes is another outstanding wine

that offers textbook notes of black

olives, blackberries, raspberries, peppery

herbs and ample minerality. Drink this

medium to full-bodied, rounded, elegant

beauty through 2024. Drink Date:

2016-2024. Score:

90
