RED WINE

DOMAINE DE LA CENDRILLON

INÉDITE CORBIÈRES 2012

AP

TASTING NOTE: Just slightly less

impressive than the 2010, the 2012

Corbières Inedite is the top cuvee of

the estate and checks in as 50% Syrah,

35% Grenache and 25% Mourvèdre,

all from clay and limestone soils, that

was completely destemmed and aged

all in larger oak foudre. Crème de

cassis, blackberries, peppery herbs and

underbrush all flow to a medium to

full-bodied, concentrated and gorgeously

pure Corbières that has more focus

and freshness than most in the vintage.

There’s certainly no harm in drinking

a bottle today, but it will keep nicely for

5-8 years. Drink: 2016-2024. Score:

92

WHITE WINE

SCHLOSS GOBELSBURG ZOBING

RIESLING 2015

DAC Kamptal

TASTING NOTE: Clean, slender poise

and quiet citrus conviction give this

wonderfully light wine its chief character.

There is gentle but pure lemon freshness

at the very core of this, radiating

weightless brightness. This leaves you

thoroughly refreshed. With its energy and

drive this wine means that conversation

will be enlivened rather than dampened.

WHITE WINE

SCHLOSS JOHANNISBERG

GRUNLACK RIESLING SPÄTLESE

2015

Qualitätswein

TASTING NOTE: Fermented at 50%

in 1,200-liter oak barrels, the 2015

Schloss Johannisberger Grünlack

Riesling Spätlese opens with a very

clear and piquant lemon and stony

flavor, with yellow stone fruit and lactic

aromas (of burnt milk) in the background.

Very complex. On the palate, this 2015

Spätlese is piquant and creamy, very

fresh and pure, with a remarkable acidity

(of nine grams per liter) which balanced

the 77 grams of residual sugar perfectly.

This is a very finesse-full and stimulating

Spätlese with mineral grip and tension.

Gorgeous. Drink: 2025-2040. Score:

93

SCHLOSS JOHANNISBERG

ROTLACK RIESLING

KABINETT TROCKEN 2015

Qualitätswein

TASTING NOTE: Sourced from the stony

upper part of the Johannisberg, the

2015 Schloss Johannisberger Rotlack

Riesling Kabinett Trocken is a beautifully

clear and concentrated wine with red

berry and delicate flinty aromas. On the

palate, the Rotlack is virtually too intense

and complex for a Kabinett, but with this

terroir and a vintage like 2015, it seems

impossible to harvest a Kabinett. Mind

you, though, that this is not a heavy wine.

It is just that complex, dry, pure, stony

and well structured, due to the stony

grand cru terroir with its clay topsoil. It

is a grand cru, in fact, and you could still

taste this in 10-15 years, if you were

passionate enough. This wine is bone dry

and was bottled with just 11.5% alcohol.

Drink: 2017-2030. Score:

91

HUSH HEATH BALFOUR 1503

CLASSIC CUVÉE BRUT SPARKLING

England

TASTING NOTE: 50% Pinot Noir, 45%

Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Meunier. Broad,

powerful, toasty and ripe autolytic fruit

with notes of baked apples and light

camomile hints. There’s a marshmallow

lightness to the palate, with gentle pastry

notes, excellent, elegant balance and

serious length. Score:
