THE CLASSICS COLLECTION

DECEMBER 2017

32 VINTAGES

DOMAINE LOUIS MOREAU LES

CLOS CHABLIS GRAND CRU 2014

AC

TASTING NOTE: This wine is young,

surprisingly fruity at this stage for this

normally textured, structured Grand Cru.

A pure line of sliced apple and green-

plum flavors are shot through with tangy

acidity. The fruitiness and intense acidity

will pass soon and the wine will develop

the proper steely, tight and mineral

character. It will drink at its best from

2020. Cellar Selection. Score:

94

CÔTE D’OR

RED WINE

LOUIS JADOT

SAVIGNY-LÈS-BEAUNE 2010

AC

TASTING NOTE: Moderate wood

influence sets off intensely earthy ripe

red berry fruit aromas that sit atop the

rich, pure and relatively fine middle weight

flavors that possess very good depth

and length. This moderately structured

effort is a quality Savigny villages

and worth considering. Drink: 2016+.

Score:

87-89

CLOS DU CHÂTEAU DE MONTAIGU

MERCUREY 1

ER

CRU 2015

AC

The grapes for this wine are grown on

vines aged 25 to 70 years.

TASTING NOTE: Snappy black fruit and

sweet spice. Very open-knit with pleasant

bitterness on the finish. Resonates

with liquorice and clove on the length.

Distinguished. Good Value. Drink 2017-

2019. Score:

16.5 out of 20

DOMAINE FRANÇOIS LUMPP GIVRY

PIED DU CLOU 1

ER

CRU 2015

AC

TASTING NOTE: Here the ripe nose is

quite similar to that of the Brûlée though

with the addition of more spice elements.

On the palate the middle weight flavors

are both slightly finer but also a bit more

delineated as well before terminating in

a highly persistent, balanced and refined

finale. This is potentially very good and

well worth a look, particularly for a red

that should drink well both early and with

age. Drink: 2019+. Score:

90-92

FRANCOIS LUMPP CLOS DU CRAS

LONG GIVRY 1

ER

CRU 2015

AC

TASTING NOTE: Here the nose is even

more complex and just as spicy with

its elegant array of various red and dark

berries, Asian-style tea, sandalwood

and rose petal nuances. There is once

again excellent richness, volume and

concentration to the suave and velvet-

textured flavors that coat the palate

with dry extract that also serves to buffer

the moderately firm tannins on the

ever-so-mildly austere finale.

Highly recommended. Drink: 2021+.
