There are many, many things to be said

about the one and only Madame Bize-

Leroy – renowned for her Domaine

wines, she also oversees a remarkable

cellar dedicated to ageing wines for her

négociant business, Maison Leroy. These

wines represent some of the very best,

most expressive and most characteristic

wines selected from across Burgundy,

aged and finished under her watchful

eye and released only when they meet

her exacting standards. Madame Bize-

Leroy’s unparalleled understanding of

the soils and terroir of Burgundy and her

ability to recognize which wines will best

speak to the particular nuances of each

growing season have made the wines of

Maison Leroy among the most sought-

after in Burgundy.

CRU 2015

TASTING NOTE: Sturdy, smoky lime nose

with a touch of oak. Rich and bold on the

palate, there is admirable weight of fruit

and ample piquant acidity to drive the

wine onto the long finish. A touch solid,

but it seems balanced. Drinking Window:

DOMAINE BILLAUD-SIMON

LES BLANCHOTS VIEILLES VIGNE

CHABLIS GRAND CRU 2014

AC

TASTING NOTE: (25% raised in very old

barrels): Pale bright yellow. Compelling

oyster-shell minerality combines beauti-

fully with a floral element on the inviting

nose, which shows little sign of oak.

Wonderfully rich, silky and elegant; a

highly concentrated wine with outstanding

finesse of texture and captivating inner-

mouth aromatic character. Builds slowly

and lingers long on the fine-grained,

palate-staining back end. Consistent from

start to finish. From 2015 on, there will be

just two barrels of this wine, one made of

oak and the other of stainless steel.
