HENNESSY RICHARD COGNAC
AC

438929 750mL $6,926.00

TASTING NOTE: The nosing passes discover seductive aromas of hazelnut, butterscotch, spice cake, pipe tobacco and honey. The palate entry offers succulent flavors of toasted bread, blueberries and light toffee; the midpalate features delightful tastes of brown sugar, cocoa, butterscotch, lychee, oak, vanilla, rancio, nougat and black plum. Concludes with elegance and grace. Score: 98 (Wine Enthusiast, April 1, 2007)

MOVIA EXTO GREDIC 2015
Goriska Brda

540062 (XD) 750mL $30.00

"Zeleni Sauvignon" is the Slovenian name for the Sauvignonasse grape variety, a.k.a. Friulano.

TASTING NOTE: This is very contrasty and intense with dried peaches and ripe pears. Tangy and spicy. Medium-to full-bodied, dense and layered white. Very intense and flavorful. Bread-dough undertones. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. Friulano. Drink now. Score: 94 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Jan. 4, 2017)

CHÂTEAU D'AIGUILHE 2014
AC Côtes de Bordeaux-Castillon

507863 (XD) 750mL $41.00

TASTING NOTE: Stephan von Neipperg's 2014 d'Aiguilhe is plump, juicy and impeccably balanced. The flavors are dark and sumptuous, with plenty of red cherry, plum, spice and cedar. Polished and beautifully textured throughout, the 2014 is [a] real stand out. Sweet floral notes add breadth to the expressive finish. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Score: 90-92 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, April 2015)

CHÂTEAU LAFITE-ROTHSCHILD 2014
1er cru, AC Pauillac

507756 (XD) 750mL $1,116.00

TASTING NOTE: The aromas of stones, oyster shell, blackcurrants and mushrooms are very intense. Full-bodied, dense and powerful with lots of blackberries. Great finish. Super energy and depth. Try in 2022. Fascinating. Score: 98 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Feb. 13, 2017)

CHÂTEAU PONTET-CANET 2014
AC Grand Cru

507855 (XD) 750mL $203.00

TASTING NOTE: A stunning wine for this vintage although it's still a bit shy on the nose (more spice than fruit showing than now). There's wet earth, too, but on the palate it's bursting with ripe yet subtle flavors. Very long and complex finish that goes on and on. Score: 98 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Feb. 13, 2017)

CHÂTEAU FONROQUE 2010
AC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

539684 (XD) 750mL $78.00

TASTING NOTE: Wonderful texture to this young wine, with silky tannins, minerals and dark fruits. Full and fresh. Subtle with finesse. Score: 91-92 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, April 19, 2011)

CHÂTEAU CANTEMERLE 2009
AC Haut-Médoc

533968 (XD) 750mL $122.00

TASTING NOTE: Gorgeous ripe fruit character, with loads of blueberries, blackberries and flowers. Full body, with velvety tannins and a fruity, fresh, grapefruit aftertaste. Really beautiful. Best ever from here. Best after 2018. Score: 95 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, March 2, 2012)

CHÂTEAU COS D'ESTOURNEL 2004
AC Saint-Estèphe Grand Cru

202929 (XD) 750mL $320.00

TASTING NOTE: A beautiful example of the vintage, proprietor Michel Reybier and his top-notch winemaker, Jean-Guillaume Prats, have fashioned an exceptional wine displaying a dense ruby/purple color as well as a sweet perfume of boysenberries, black currants, cherries, pain grille, roasted herbs, and licorice. Medium-bodied with impressive density for the vintage, sweet tannin, and outstanding richness and length, it should be at its finest between 2009 and 2020+. Score: 92 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, June 28, 2007)

CHÂTEAU BROWN BLANC 2009
AC Pessac-Léognan

533794 (XD) 750mL $64.00

TASTING NOTE: This has weight and length, with lemon cream and tarragon notes up front, followed by mouthfilling white peach, tangerine and shortbread notes, all framed by a lingering quinine note on the finish. Smoky hints weave in and out as well, for added range. Distinctive. Drink now through 2019. Score: 92 (James Molesworth, winespectator.com, March 31, 2012)

BOUCHARD PÈRE & FILS POMMARD 2015
AC

413013 (XD) 750mL $60.00

TASTING NOTE: (Two-thirds of this cuvée is from estate vines; vinified with 20% whole clusters but with a very soft extraction.) Bright medium red. Sweet, expressive scents and flavors of red cherry, spices and herbs, plus a touch of licorice. Velvety in the mid-palate for village Pommard, then fresh and firmly tannic on the lingering back end. Solid wine. Score: 87-89 (Stephen Tanzer, vinous.com, Nov. 2016)

MARQUIS D'ANGERVILLE CHAMPANS VOLNAY 1ER CRU 2015
AC

513663 (XD) 750mL $199.00

TASTING NOTE: Bright medium ruby. Mineral-driven aromas of blackberry, cassis, licorice, bitter chocolate and crushed stone, plus a touch of sweet oak. Suave, silky black fruit and violet flavors show absolutely no rough edges. The wonderfully refined tannins arrive late, allowing the fruit to open beautifully on the very long, palate-staining finish. An outstanding wine with a compellingly rich, layered texture, this was racked in July, like the Clos des Ducs. Score: 93-96 (Stephen Tanzer, vinous.com, Nov. 2016)

MARQUIS D'ANGERVILLE CLOS DES DUCS VOLNAY 1ER CRU 2015
AC

513630 (XD) 750mL $274.00

TASTING NOTE: Good medium ruby. Restrained but very pure scents of black fruits, licorice and cocoa powder. Compellingly silky and seamless wine, hinting at an almost chocolatey ripeness but extremely closed today. This extremely complex, refined wine shows more inner-mouth lift than the Champans and finishes with outstanding, slowly rising length, the utterly suave, glossy tannins arriving late. Like a millefeuille in its velvety texture, sweetness and crunchiness. Leaves the salivary glands humming. Score: 93-96 (Stephen Tanzer, vinous.com, Nov. 2016)

MARQUIS D'ANGERVILLE FREMIETS VOLNAY 1ER CRU 2015
AC

513697 (XD) 750mL $161.00

TASTING NOTE: Bright ruby. Blackberry, licorice and violet on the perfumed nose. Fine-grained and suave, but with terrific inner-mouth floral lift giving the middle palate a sense of energy. The wine's finishing sweetness is leavened by saline minerality and noteworthy grip. Really spreads out to saturate the mouth; an outstanding example of this premier cru. Score: 92-94 (Stephen Tanzer, vinous.com, Nov. 2016)

MARQUIS D'ANGERVILLE TAILLEPIEDS VOLNAY 1ER CRU 2015
AC

513689 (XD) 750mL $199.00

TASTING NOTE: Medium ruby. Slightly reduced, extremely primary aromas of blueberry and fruity bitter chocolate. Juicy on entry, then extremely tight and unevolved in the middle palate, with the density of a black hole. This lightly saline wine finishes with outstanding mineral punch and palate-staining length, not to mention great finesse of tannins. There's nothing dry about this beauty. Offers amazing potential. The crop level here was 26 hectoliters per hectare, according to Guillaume d'Angerville. Score: 93-96 (Stephen Tanzer, vinous.com, Nov. 2016)

ALBERT MOROT LES CENT VIGNES BEAUNE 1ER CRU 2014
AC

226340 (XD) 750mL $67.00

TASTING NOTE: Rich and juicy, this wine holds excellent potential. With its ripe red-berry fruit, balanced tannins and acidity, and spice from the wood aging, it will become a concentrated wine. Drink from 2020. Score: 93 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Oct. 1, 2016)

MARCHAND-TAWSE CORTON GRAND CRU 2011
AC

254433 (XD) 750mL $100.00

TASTING NOTE: Bright medium red. Redcurrant, cherry, iron and smoky underbrush on the nose. Lovely lift and mineral tension to the flavors of strawberry and earth. Not a fleshy wine but very intensely flavored and perfumed, offering terrific subtle lingering sweetness and no rough edges. Finishes with a whiff of exotic flowers. Score: 92+ (Stephen Tanzer, vinous.com, March 2014)

BOUCHARD PÈRE & FILS CORTON-CHARLEMAGNE GRAND CRU 2015
AC

949354 (XD) 750mL $239.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2015 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a composed, citrus peel, granitic bouquet that feels a little "cooler" than others that I have encountered, the altitude and clay soils lending this the reserve to counterbalance the precocity of the growing season. The palate is well balanced with pleasing acidity, tightly-wound with a noticeable marine element that becomes more pronounced towards the finish. It has the weight and intensity you expect from a Corton-Charlemagne and it should repay those who cellar it for 5-7 years. This is a fine effort in such a warm vintage. Drink date: 2018-2032. Score: 92-94 (Neal Martin, robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2016)

PASCAL BOUCHARD LES VIEILLES VIGNES FOURCHAUME CHABLIS 1ER CRU 2015
AC

478362 (XD) 750mL $50.00

TASTING NOTE: This is a young, beautifully fruity wine. Lemon and lime chase ripe yellow fruits and pears that are all lifted by spice and acidity. It is perfumed, rich and concentrated from the old vines. The aftertaste is mineral and tight. Drink from 2020. Score: 93 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 31, 2016)

JEAN RIJCKAERT LES CROUX VIEILLES VIGNES POUILLY-FUISSÉ 2014
AC

534032 (XD) 750mL $49.00

TASTING NOTE: Mild reduction does not detract significantly from the mostly citrus and floral suffused aromas. The mouth feel of the medium weight flavors is distinctly different as there is a cool and refined character to the well-defined and extract-rich finish that coats the mouth on the moderately austere finish that delivers excellent depth and very fine length. This combination of power and finesse offers very fine quality and is worth checking out. Drink: 2020+. Outstanding. Score: 92 (Allen Meadows, burghound.com, Oct. 8, 2016)

JOSEPH FAIVELEY LES PREUSES CHABLIS GRAND CRU 2014
AC

534297 (XD) 750mL $104.00

Preuses sits at the northern end of the grand cru slope, where Kimmeridgian limestone soils and ample sunshine shape the wines. The 2014 vintage in Chablis was given an impressive 4.5/5 by Decanter magazine, giving the Faiveley family (and their 200 years of wine history) more than enough to work with. This wine is poised to show well for decades.

HENRI DE VILLAMONT LES EMBAZÉES CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET 1ER CRU 2013
AC

524041 (XD) 750mL $89.00

TASTING NOTE: Textured and with a tight minerality, this is also a potentially generous wine, spicy and showing a creamy character from the wood. Lively acidity cuts through the texture with delicious fruitiness coming from behind to give a lift to this young, still very fresh wine. Drink from 2018. Cellar Selection. Score: 93 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Oct. 1, 2015)

E. GUIGAL LA LANDONNE CÔTE-RÔTIE 2013
AC

393389 (XD) 750mL $510.00

TASTING NOTE: The inky black-colored 2013 Côte Rôtie La Landonne is certainly one of the gems in the vintage, and it has more texture, depth and richness than just about every other wine out there. Charred fruits, black, black fruits, espresso, crushed rock and wood smoke all emerge from this full-bodied, concentrated Côte Rôtie that certainly shows a masculine style, yet still possesses incredible purity and elegance. Score: 97-99 (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, Dec. 31, 2016)

TASTING NOTE: Very ripe, with layers of fig, boysenberry and plum compote forming the core, inlaid liberally with licorice snap, roasted apple wood and Turkish coffee notes. Shows lots of heft, but everything pulls together on the finish, exhibiting drive and definition. Best from 2020 through 2040. Collectibles. E. GUIGAL LA TURQUE CÔTE-RÔTIE 2013
AC

985523 (XD) 750mL $510.00

TASTING NOTE: A stunning, modern-styled version, with scintillating raspberry purée, plum confiture and blackberry reduction flavors gliding over velvety but copious tannins. Alluring warm ganache and fruitcake accents gild the finish, which sails on and on. Best from 2020 through 2045. Score: 98 (James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, Sept. 30, 2017)

XAVIER CUVÉE ANONYME CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE 2011
AP

393421 (XD) 750mL $59.00

TASTING NOTE: The top wine of the estate, the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Anonyme is a hidden gem in the vintage! A blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah, Counoise and Vaccarese, from 90-year-old vines and aged in one-third new barrels (although you wouldn't know it), it possesses fabulous notes of blackberry and currant fruit, big minerality, roasted meats and leather. Full-bodied, with beautiful freshness, big tannin and a layered, thrillingly concentrated mid-palate, it will be better in another year or two, and have over 15 years of longevity. Drink 2015-2026. DOMAINE DU GRAND TINEL CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE BLANC 2014
AC

390773 (D) 750mL $51.00

TASTING NOTE: I loved Domaine du Grand Tinel's 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc, and this blend of 65% Grenache Blanc, 15% Clairette and the rest Roussanne and Bourboulenc offers a medium-bodied, crisp and lively profile to go with notes of lemon peel, buttered citrus blossom and light minerality. It's a classy, high quality white to enjoy over the coming 2-3 years. Drink Date: 2015-2018. Score: 90 (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, Oct. 29, 2015)

LOUIS BROCHET-HERVIEUX HBH 1ER CRU CHAMPAGNE 1996
AC

536656 (XD) 750mL $68.95

TASTING NOTE: This brand was created out of the 1944 marriage of Henri Brochet and Yvonne Hervieux. In 1980, Alain Brochet and Brigitte Prévost took it over. The 15-hectare vineyard is located north-west of Reims. The HBH cuvée contains a slight majority of red grapes (55%, most of it pinot noir). This 1996 is full, complex and has aged very well. It displays very nice toasty notes. We gave a star to both the Brut extra Brochet-Prévost and the Brut extra 1er cru Brochet-Hervieu made of the same blend (14% white grapes, 86% red grapes, mainly pinot noir) and from the same vintages (2003 and 2002). Score: 2 Stars (out of 3) (Guide Hachette, 2008)

PHILIPPE GONET GRANDE RÉSERVE CHAMPAGNE
AC

534123 (XD) 1500mL $142.00

DOMAINE DES BAUMARD CLOS DE SAINT YVES SAVENNIÈRES 2016
AC

16717 (XD) 750mL $41.00

Domaine des Baumard is one of the most revered estates in the Loire Valley and was named as one of 2017's Top 100 Wineries by Wine & Spirits magazine. This particular wine is a single-vineyard Savennières made of Chenin Blanc grown in the domaine's Clos St Yves site, a six-hectare parcel where the vines grow in shale layered over sandstone. Expect this wine to show serious finesse and refinement for a decade or more.

HENRI BOURGEOIS JADIS SANCERRE 2014
AC

533786 (XD) 750mL $60.00

TASTING NOTE: This wine is made from parcels on steep slopes and produced as the family's flagship wine. At nearly three years old, it has already mellowed into a richly endowed wine, ripe with green fruits, spice and concentrated acidity. There is so much complexity to this finely structured wine that will allow it to age further. Drink from 2019. Cellar Selection. Score: 94 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Aug. 1, 2017)

R & A PFAFFL PASSION RESERVE RIESLING 2015
Niederösterreich

534834 (D) 750mL $56.00

TASTING NOTE: Pfaffl's 2015 Riesling Reserve Passion is the first release of this wine which comes from the Ulrichskirchener Sandlern, a summit with a sandy soil on shell limestone. "It is a very windy terroir so that we can pick healthy grapes very late," says Heidi Pfaffl. The 2015 was picked in the beginning of November and opens with a clear, intense and elegant bouquet of ripe stone fruits, crushed stones (chalk) and a dash of lemon perfume. Full-bodied, round and firm on the palate, this is a very complex and aromatic Riesling with the finest tannins and a very nice complexity. Due to the 200-liter vat where it was fermented and aged, it has a very nice grip and is already accessible. One of the finest Pfaffl wines of the 2015 vintage. Great new entry into the Pfaffl portfolio. Score: 93 (Stephan Reinhardt, robertparker.com, June 29, 2016)

TRAMIN UNTEREBNER PINOT GRIGIO 2015
DOC Alto Adige

541763 (XD) 750mL $41.00

TASTING NOTE: Bright golden-tinged yellow. Apple and pear on the delicate nose. Bright and juicy, with lemony zing lifting the ripe orchard fruit and sweet spice flavors. The finish is long and suave in typical Unterebner fashion, with herbal nuances emerging on the long back end. Doesn't taste especially high in acid, although the numbers say the total acidity was 6.2 g/L (only 50% of the malo done), so the wine comes across as quite fresh and lively. A warm year also characterized by a higher than usual number of sunlight hours. There was very little rainfall in the summer accounting for big, round wines. Drinking window: 2018-2024. Score: 92 (Ian D'Agata, vinous.com, Oct. 2016)

NATIV EREMO SAN QUIRICO IRPINIA CAMPI TAURASINI 2013
DOC

541581 (XD) 750mL $38.00

TASTING NOTE: This juicy red offers modern-style accents of melted licorice and mocha to the ripe boysenberry coulis and oak spice flavors, but the wild herb and tarry mineral underpinning is classic, old-school Aglianico. Creamy and balanced, with a rich and lingering finish. Drink now through 2025. Score: 91 (Alison Napjus, winespectator.com, May 31, 2017)

UMBERTO CESARI TAULETO SANGIOVESE 2011

ISOLE E OLENA CEPPARELLO 2013
IGT Toscana

25601 (XD) 1500mL $228.00

TASTING NOTE: Hands down beautiful, The 2013 Cepparello is a creation of stunning elegance and balance. A pure expression of Sangiovese, this wine undergoes a sophisticated oak regime that sees ageing in various barrel sizes and barrique of various ages. It lives 18 months of its life in French and 3% American oak before being released. This vintage (that is cooler compared to 2012 and 2011) delivers an exceptionally soft and mellow bouquet with slightly sweet sensations of ripe cherry and fragrant blue flower. Soft tones of spice and cinnamon bring up the rear. The wine is medium to full in terms of body weight, and the finish is driven by cool tones of balsam and menthol herb. The 2013 Cepparello is one of my favorite wines of the vintage. Score: 97 (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2016)

LE MACCHIOLE MESSORIO 2013
IGT Toscana

316612 (XD) 750mL $270.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2013 Messorio is a truly divine creation that puts Merlot on a well-deserved pedestal. This is a complete wine that accurately doses out its intensity and persistence with stopwatch precision. Dark fruit, blackberry, spice, leather, tar and tobacco are folded together into a homogeneous whole. The wine is supported by finely integrated tannins with lovely dark fruit flavors and beautifully plush textural richness. Thanks to the vintage warmth, the 2013 vintage is similar to 2011. But this current release presents a more delineated sense of freshness that holds it firmly stitched together. The finish is succulent and beautifully layered. Some 10,500 bottles were produced. This is a stunning wine that will not fade for decades to come. Drink Date: 2018-2040. Score: 98 (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, Oct. 28, 2016)

TESTAMATTA 2013
IGT Toscana

141945 (XD) 750mL $190.00

TASTING NOTE: Very aromatic and exciting with citrus rind, plums, cedar and rose petals. Full body, fine and silky tannins and a long and beautiful finish. Love the persistence and intensity. CAIAROSSA 2010
IGT Toscana

533117 (XD) 750mL $77.00

TASTING NOTE: An IGT Toscana blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Alicante, the 2010 Caiarossa is a tremendous wine. The bouquet is rich and compelling with deep layers of dark fruit, spice and chocolate. Given the complexity of the blend, it's hard to identify any single variety although the softness of Merlot and the structure of the two Cabernet grapes definitely comes through in the mouth. Drink Date: 2015-2022. Score: 93 (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, Sept. 25, 2016)

LA LECCIAIA RISERVA BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2010
DOCG

241307 (XD) 750mL $75.00

TASTING NOTE: The star of the show among La Lecciaia's new releases is the mid weight 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva. A little slow to open, the wine shows power and depth followed by a pretty embroidery of varietal aromas. This wine is focused on the small details and the finer nuances. Lingering aromas of wild berry, toasted nut, smoke, wet earth, cola and balsam herb add brightness and buoyancy to the bouquet. There is a dry mineral note on the finish that serves to give weight and definition. The wine reveals tight tannins and a silky feel. I suggest giving this Riserva another few years to reach integration. Drink: 2017-2029. Score: 93 (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, March 3, 2016)

CASTELLO DI AMA RISERVA CHIANTI CLASSICO 2007
DOCG

39768 (XD) 750mL $54.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2007 Chianti Classico Castello di Ama is fabulous. There is so much going on in the glass, as endless layers of perfumed dark red fruit caress the palate in stunning style. The wine's precision, elegance and overall sense of harmony are all first class. Smoke, tar and roses add the final layers of complexity on the finish. Today the wine is mostly remarkable for its exceptional silkiness; readers will have to wait at least a few years for the aromatics and flavors to develop tertiary nuances. The Castello is a wine that sets a new standard for what is possible within the Chianti Classico appellation. Drinking Window: 2015-2027. Score: 93 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, Oct. 2010)

LA FIORITA RISERVA BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2007
DOCG

513796 (XD) 750mL $99.00

TASTING NOTE: A round, fruity version, with plenty of bright cherry and raspberry fruit, shaded by rose, graphite, balsamic and tobacco flavors. Open-textured, with fine length and a firm spine. Best from 2015 through 2030. Score: 94 (Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, May 31, 2013)

ARNALDO CAPRAI COLLEPIANO SAGRANTINO DI MONTEFALCO 2010
DOCG

373498 (XD) 750mL $63.00

TASTING NOTE: I have been a big fan of past vintages of this wine. The 2010 Montefalco Sagrantino Collepiano delivers on my expectations. If you are new to Sagrantino, this wine is a great place to start. You get an authentic taste of the power and sheer determination of the tannic Sagrantino grape, but the contours have been softened and controlled by the careful attention that this estate is known for. Prune, dark plum and blackberry are at the core of this super dense wine. Spice, leather, Spanish cedar and chewing tobacco also play prominent roles. Collepiano is built to last. Drink Date: 2017-2028. Score: 93 (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, March 30, 2016)

ROMANO DAL FORNO AMARONE DELLA VALPOLICELLA 2011
Monte Lodoletta Vineyard, DOCG

711440 (XD) 750mL $470.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2011 Amarone della Valpolicella Monte Lodoletta is another extreme wine from Romano Dal Forno and his family. It is almost impossible to wrap your head around the intensity and richness that is so expertly delivered by this monumental wine. The bouquet is sweet and heavy with luscious tones of black fruit, prune, dried rose bud, cherry liqueur, spice and tarry asphalt. The wine oozes forth with impactful thickness and generosity. Rather than a companion to a meal, this wine is a meal in itself. It goes over and beyond traditional Amarone. This was a hot vintage, but the brunt of the heat came towards the middle/end of the growing season, followed by cooler temperatures at harvest. Drink Date: 2018-2040. Score: 96 (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, May 31, 2017)

ROMANO DAL FORNO VALPOLICELLA SUPERIORE 2011
Monte Lodoletta Vineyard, DOC

578666 (XD) 750mL $130.00

TASTING NOTE: This wine is a blend of 70 per cent Corvina with 20 per cent Rondinella and just 5 per cent each of Croatina and Oseleta. It's deep black-red in colour, and is dark and forceful, sombre yet voluptuous in aroma: a harmonious weave of black chocolate, sloe and elderberry, with the years in oak bringing a cedary refinement. On the palate, it's a vault of a wine: deep, dark and roomy, packed with earthy refinements and black-fruited echoes, both severe yet soft and enticing too. The tannins are ample yet fine-grained, the acidity delicate and sustaining. I wrote about the 'crocodilian' character of grand Veneto dried-fruit red wines back in April, but the teeth are polished ivory here. This is horizon-altering 'Valpolicella' which would perform outstandingly in any Amarone tasting. Score: 96 (Andrew Jefford, decanter.com, June 11, 2017)

SPERI VIGNETO MONTE SANT'URBANO AMARONE DELLA VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO 2000
DOC

526798 (XD) 750mL $211.00

The 2000 vintage in Veneto was excellent, and this gracefully maturing wine is now showing its best. Expect it to continue to do so for another two decades or more. Score: 3 Glasses (out of 3)

QUINTA DA PEDRA CAVADA GRANDE RESERVA 2012
DOC Douro

538934 (XD) 750mL $57.00

TASTING NOTE: Produced from old vines in a quinta in the high eastern end of the Douro, in Douro Superior, this wine is aged for 15 months in wood. That has broadened the tannins and given the wine its rich, opulent black fruit character. After four years, it is still young, and should not be touched until 2018. Cellar Selection. Score: 93 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 1, 2016)

QUINTA DA CALÇADA VINHAS VELHAS BLANCO 2015
Vinho Regional Minho

523282 (XD) 750mL $36.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2015 Vinhas Velhas (Quinta da Calçada) is the winery's special project from its 1917 vines, said to be the region's oldest. A field blend, it features Arinto, Azal, Donzelinho and others, all in used French oak for eight months. With very little residual sugar and plenty of acidity, it seems quite dry. Not yet bottled or released when seen, this looks to be the best wine ever from Calçada. Simply brilliant, it combines energy and concentration. Its bright and intense demeanor goes well with the solid mid-palate. The fruit and acidity balance the oak brilliantly. This is, to be sure, a barrel sample, but if nothing goes wrong, it looks like a statement wine. In a great vintage, this is the year this relatively new bottling rounds into form, easily eclipsing the few older ones in this report. Drink date: 2016-2026. Score: 93-94 (Mark Squires, robertparker.com, Aug. 30, 2016)

FINCA VILLACRECES 2014
DO Ribera del Duero

236422 (XD) 750mL $47.00

TASTING NOTE: The very toasty eponymous 2014 Finca Villacreces follows the line of the 2012 I tasted last time. It's a blend of Tempranillo with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Merlot from their estate vineyards in the village of Quintanilla de Onésimo. The vines are organically-farmed and the wines matured in French oak barrels for 14 months, where 50% of the barrels were new and the other half were second-use. It's a powerful, ripe and generously-oaked Ribera del Duero, with clout and concentration, but with good balance. The tannins are fine-grained and there is good freshness. It should develop nicely in bottle. 41,000 bottles produced. Drink date: 2017-2021. Score: 92 (Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com, Feb. 28, 2017)

MARQUÉS DE MURRIETA CASTILLO YGAY GRAN RESERVA ESPECIAL 2007
DOCa Rioja

88161 (XD) 750mL $139.00

TASTING NOTE: The aromas of this show an amazing freshness of flowers and herbs such as lavender, rosemary, and violet. Then it goes to raspberry, candy and currants. Black licorice too. A truly great wine on the nose. Full-bodied, racy and linear. So polished. It's like a red ruby. 86% tempranillo and 14% mazuelo in the blend. For release in September 2015. Great length and future. Give it three years or so. Or decant two hours in advance. Score: 98 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Nov. 1, 2015)

MURIEL CONDE DE LOS ANDES 2001
DOCa Rioja

532937 (XD) 750mL $57.00

Conde de los Andes is considered to be among the top Rioja terroirs. It is located in Ollauri, a small, old village of just 300 in the heart of the Rioja Alta part of the Rioja appellation, between the southern banks of the Ebro River and the foothills of the Sierra de la Demanda mountain range. This gracefully maturing wine offers a taste of this legendary place, no cellaring required.

CLONAKILLA SHIRAZ/VIOGNIER 2015
Canberra District

27367 (XD) 750mL $104.00

TASTING NOTE: This is a rare beauty: a syrah-based wine that delivers power in such an elegant way. 2015 is a really impressive vintage for Clonakilla across the board and this, the flagship wine, is every bit as great as it should be. The aromatic spectrum is vast, from fine musky florals to white pepper and almost every imaginable spice. Then an incredibly exuberant explosion of boysenberries, raspberries and cherries of every shade takes center stage as well as red to blue to purple plums. It is full of life. The palate has an incredibly deep draw. There's a total saturation of ripe red-cherry, raspberry and red-plum flavors. Hints of chocolate and a dusting of white pepper. The tannins radiate light and energy, and this is bright from start to finish. Perfectly ripe, seamlessly balanced and actually very approachable. Drink it now, but there's plenty to come in time. This will be best from 2022. Score: 99 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Jan. 11, 2017)

TOLPUDDLE VINEYARD PINOT NOIR 2015
Coal River Valley, Tasmania

534818 (XD) 750mL $70.00

TASTING NOTE: Bright, clear crimson; this is right up there with the best of the best from a great Tasmanian vintage, sharing the alluring, perfumed fruits and the integrity of high quality tannins providing the structure for a long future. There is a purity to the red and black cherry/berry fruits that shines through the portals of the savoury/spicy tannins. A luminous future will richly repay those who are patient. Drink by: 2028. WAKEFIELD ST. ANDREWS CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014
Clare Valley

58198 (XD) 750mL $60.00

TASTING NOTE: Wakefield (known as Taylor's in Australia) was founded as a Cabernet-focused estate. While the range has expanded over time, Cabernet Sauvignon remains a strength. Brown sugar and cedar frame cassis fruit on the nose; the palate shows just enough juicy, mouthwatering fruit to support the ample oak. This is full bodied yet supple, with crisp acids showing on the finish. Cellar Selection. Score: 93 (Joe Czerwinski, Wine Enthusiast, Feb. 1, 2017)

TWO HANDS ARES SHIRAZ 2013
South Australia

64816 (XD) 750mL $159.00

TASTING NOTE: A powerful, bold and broad wine, offering sandalwood, smoke and black licorice aromas that weave in and out of the blackberry, kirsch and plum flavors. For all of the presence, there's also elegance and refinement, with velvety tannins and a long, persistent finish. Drink now through 2030. TASTING NOTE: Bruce Dukes at his best, conjuring up the complexity of a top French white burgundy with a base of natural acidity ex relatively low alcohol. The barrel ferment has led to complex, funky nuances, and the texture of the wine builds progressively until it moves through towards the exceptionally long finish and aftertaste. Special Value. TASTING NOTE: Porseleinberg's 2014 Syrah has a very pure bouquet of blackberry, briary, hints of crushed violet and iris all with wonderful delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin. Compared to other vintages that I have tasted, this 2014 feels quite structured and perhaps a little more masculine than previous vintages, the schistous terroir expressive towards the mineral-driven finish. It constitutes one of the most intellectual wines from Porseleinberg that I have tasted, maybe less opulent than previous vintages, yet with great complexity and breeding. Drink Date: 2019-2038. Score: 96 (Neal Martin, robertparker.com, April 28, 2017)

ZUCCARDI ALUVIONAL ALTAMIRA MALBEC 2011
Uco Valley, Mendoza

468058 (XD) 750mL $80.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2011 Aluvional Altamira is pure Malbec planted at 1,100 meters in soils with big boulders and a high chalk content in Altamira, which produces serious, elegant but a little backward wines. It opens with shy aromas of black cherries and blueberries, ripe, yet terse, vibrant and very harmonious, then moves on to a medium-bodied palate, that is powerful but without showing it in an obvious way. This is a superb example of the character of Altamira through the Malbec grape. Drink now-2020. Score: 94 (Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com, April 29, 2014)

BARNETT VINEYARDS RATTLESNAKE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014
Spring Mountain District

546317 (XD) 750mL $260.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Rattlesnake is their reserve wine and has been called this since 1991, no doubt because of the number of rattlesnakes that populated the property. It is usually their greatest wine, when they declare it. They only made 69 cases in 2014, so this is a tough one to find. The color is opaque ruby/purple and the wine has a few extra gears in it, with plenty of blueberry, cassis, forest floor and white flowers, followed by a full-bodied, beautifully built style of wine. This wine goes on and on - it is incredibl[y] rich, but with no defects or hard edges. A full-bodied, lush, elegant, yet powerful wine, this is a classic Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon to drink over the next 20+ years. Drink Date: 2016-2036. Score: 95+ (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2016)

DAOU SOUL OF A LION 2014
Paso Robles

546267 (XD) 750mL $229.00

TASTING NOTE: Considered the top wine of the estate (aside from the tiny production Patrimony), the 2014 Soul Of A Lion will be bottled in August (most likely by the time you read this). It shows how good the vintage was for this estate and is a broad, deep, rich and layered blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Cabernet Franc and a splash of Petit Verdot that's brought up all in new French oak. Its inky purple color is followed by terrific notes of plums, creme de cassis, garrigue and exotic flowers, and it hits the palate with no hard edges, gorgeous purity and polished tannin, all suggesting it will evolve gracefully. Score: 94-96+ (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, Aug. 30, 2016)

REVANA FAMILY VINEYARD TERROIR SERIES CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014
Napa Valley

546176 (XD) 750mL $149.00

TASTING NOTE: Pure, rich, dense and driven by extracted blackberry, boysenberry, licorice, currant, cedar and cigar box nuances. Most impressive for the direct and authoritative presence. Best from 2020 through 2038. Score: 95 (James Laube, winespectator.com, 2017)

HALL COEUR CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2013
St. Helena

546275 (XD) 750mL $110.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Coeur (94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Merlot primarily from the Bergfeld Vineyard, but other St. Helena terroirs as well) has an inky purple color, a big, sweet kiss of crème de cassis, blackberries, licorice, and camphor. Full-bodied, opulent and fleshy, it can be drunk now in its exuberant youthfulness but promises to age gracefully for two decades or more. Drink Date: 2016-2036. Score: 93+ (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, Aug. 30, 2016)

THE HILT OLD GUARD CHARDONNAY 2014
Santa Barbara County

546259 (XD) 750mL $85.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2014 Chardonnay Old Guard comes across as intensely mineral, with almost Riesling-like profile of liquefied rocks, petrol, citrus and exotic flowers. Finely cut and chiseled to the core, the 2014 is shaping up to be another jewel of a wine from The Hilt. Vineyard sources are Sanford & Benedict, Solomon Hills and Radian. The 2014 is aging 65% in neutral oak and 35% in steel. As is the custom with this bottling, only a small amount of the juice (15%) completed malolactic fermentation. Drinking Window: 2016-2024. Score: 93-94 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, June 2015)

TRISAETUM COAST RANGE ESTATE PINOT NOIR 2014
Yamhill-Carlton District, Willamette Valley

546374 (XD) 750mL $70.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2014 Pinot Noir Coast Range was picked at [three] tons per acre in dry and warm conditions between 16 September and 6 October, and sees 16 months in barrel. It has a very composed bouquet with very well-integrated new oak, lifting the crushed strawberry, redcurrant and oyster shell aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a little more sappiness than the 2014 Wichmann Dundee Estate, good body and depth with a gentle grip on the finish that shows as much black fruit as red. Give this 12-18 months in bottle before broaching. Score: 92 (Neal Martin, robertparker.com, June 29, 2016)

TRISAETUM PINOT NOIR 2014
Ribbon Ridge, Williamette Valley

534826 (XD) 750mL $70.00

TASTING NOTE: Once again this vineyard delivers irresistibly bright refined flavors of raspberry and cherry fruit - primary, concentrated and immaculately fresh. There's a touch of mocha from the new barrels, and impressive length. As with all of Trisaetum's single vineyard Pinots, this is built for cellaring, and should drink best after another couple of years in bottle. Drink 2018-2028, perhaps beyond. Cellar Selection. Score: 94 (Paul Gregutt, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 1, 2016)

CHÂTEAU DOISY-VÉDRINES 2003
2e cru, AC Sauternes

427179 (S) 375mL $40.00

Robert Parker gave this wine a score of 90 points when he tasted it in April of 2006.(robertparker.com)

TASTING NOTE: Wow. This shows superintense aromas of dried pineapple, apple tart and pecan pie with honey. Full-bodied and medium-sweet, with lovely honey character and a medium finish. Not as good as the 2001. Best after 2009. Score: 89 (James Suckling, winespectator.com, March 31, 2006)

DELAFORCE VINTAGE PORT 2011
DOP

180794 (S) 750mL $72.00

TASTING NOTE: A pureness and focus to this young vintage Port makes it exceptional. Aromas of blueberries and raspberries. Full body, medium sweet with an integrated fruit and tannin structure. Lasts for minutes on the palate. Extremely well-made. 500 cases produced of this foot-trodden wine. Better in 2022. Score: 94 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, May 21, 2013)

KOPKE COLHEITA TAWNY PORT 1978
DOP

535435 (S) 750mL $149.00

TASTING NOTE: The 1978 Colheita Tawny Port was bottled in 2015 with 119 grams per liter of residual sugar and a bar top cork (typical for the house). It is very graceful for its age, finishing with a wave of sweetness, fruit and sugar. Emphasizing the caramel more than the molasses, this is irresistibly delicious, but it becomes more complex and puts on weight as it airs and warms. The wine shows off its power and hints of Brandy on the rather tense finish, too. Overall, this is a beauty that becomes more impressive the longer you sit with it. Then, you realize that its balance is simply perfect, yet it stands out in most every category. This is very fine and the price is pretty nice for the age and the quality. Drink date: 2016-2060. Score: 94 (Mark Squires, robertparker.com, March 3, 2016)

GRAHAM'S 30-YEAR-OLD TAWNY PORT
DOP

670406 (S) 750mL $162.00

TASTING NOTE: Remarkably, this is able to show age and long cask aging, but the flavor is still here: figs and honey, balanced out with burnt caramel aged acidity and a rich (but not sweet) finish. Excellent, top quality aged tawny. Editors' Choice. Score: 95 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Nov. 1, 2007)

GRAN PATRÓN PIEDRA TEQUILA

539759 750mL $699.00

TASTING NOTE: Patrón's first-ever extra añejo is aged at least three years, and is named for the stone wheel (piedra) that crushes agave to make Tequila. It has an amber hue and a rich aroma that mixes caramel, dried fruit and peppery notes. The palate is silky and rounded, with lots of caramel and oak up front, tapering off gently with anise, ginger and cinnamon. Best of Year 2016. Score: 97 (Kara Newman, Wine Enthusiast, May 1, 2016)
