CHÂTEAU DE LAUBADE BAS ARMAGNAC 1998
In wooden gift box, AC

59675 700mL $134.00

Since 1896, Château de Laubade has been one of the few estates to specialize in vintage Armagnac. Noted for its finesse, depth of flavour and dark, strong colour, this Armagnac is considered one of the finest in the world and is known to be the favourite of several of Europe's royal families. This would make a splendid gift for a brandy connoisseur and is a memorable way to celebrate a 20-year milestone.

GÉRARD BERTRAND LEGEND VINTAGE 1955
AC Rivesaltes

527887 (S) 750mL $399.00

Mark a milestone in style with this exceptional 1955 wine from an iconic French producer. The wine was grown in the Pyrénées-Orientales in primarily granite and gneiss soils, with a few plots on schist and red limestone. It reveals a delicate, complex bouquet with notes of orange peel, leather and tobacco. On the palate, it's sweet, smooth and full-bodied with beautiful balance. Legendary indeed.

CHÂTEAU BERNADOTTE 2010
AC Haut-Médoc

257741 (XD) 750mL $50.00

TASTING NOTE: Strong new-wood aromas lead to a palate that is layered with firm tannins, a polished toast character and a sufficient ripe blackberry flavor to balance. This 2010 bottling shows that this is a chateau to watch. Cellar Selection. Score: 92 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Feb. 2013)

LE PAUILLAC DE LATOUR 2010
AC Pauillac

182766 (XD) 750mL $140.00

TASTING NOTE: The best Pauillac I ever tasted (and this wine has been a revelation ever since they first introduced it), the 2010 from Latour represents 24% of their production. It is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44.5% Merlot and .5% Cabernet Franc. An amazingly opulent, round, delicious wine ... it possesses wonderfully silky tannins, classic black currant, cedar wood and forest floor notes, and rich, full-bodied opulence as well as a terrific purity and palate presence. It should drink well for 10-15+ years. Score: 93 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, Feb. 27, 2013)

CHÂTEAU TRONQUOY-LALANDE 2008
AC Saint-Estèphe

490128 (XD) 750mL $60.00

TASTING NOTE: Loaded with black currant and spring flower characteristics as well as a nice lashing of minerality, this sleeper of the vintage is a medium to full-bodied, luscious St.-Estephe to enjoy now and over the next 10-12 years. Drink Date: 2011-2023. Score: 90 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, May 1, 2011)

CLOS L'ÉGLISE 2006
AC Pomerol

388967 (XD) 750mL $204.00

TASTING NOTE: Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London and then at the château, the 2006 Clos l'Eglise has an attractive, quite opulent bouquet with blueberry and crème de cassis aromas tinged with black truffle and violets. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin, good acidity, grippy in the mouth and substantial weight on the finish. If it can evolve more finesse on the finish, this will be a very satisfying Pomerol, so afford it another 3-4 years in bottle. Drink Date: 2019-2035. Score: 92 (Neal Martin, robertparker.com, May 29, 2016)

CHÂTEAU HAUT-BERGEY 2005
AC Pessac-Léognan

351601 (XD) 750mL $79.00

TASTING NOTE: Dense with very ripe tannins and spices. Dried fruits such as blackberries. Licorice too. Full and powerful. Score: 92-93 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, April 29, 2016)

CHÂTEAU ORMES DE PEZ 2005
AC Saint-Estèphe

266353 (XD) 750mL $132.00

Reviewing this wine in June 2008, Roger Voss of Wine Enthusiast awarded it 92 points.

TASTING NOTE: The aromas of walnut shell, chocolate and berries are all there. Full body with soft, velvety tannins and a fruity finish. Already ready to drink. Score: 90 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, July 1, 2013)

CLOS DU MARQUIS 2000
AC Saint-Julien

397331 (XD) 750mL $187.00

This wine will have taken on a softer texture and mature bouquet and flavours since Suckling's 2003 review.

TASTING NOTE: The nose shows loads of plum, spice and meat aromas, as well as hints of licorice. It's full-bodied, with firm, yet velvety textured tannins. It's big and rounded. If you can't afford Las Cases, try some of this. Some might call this a second wine, but it comes from a plot of vineyards not deemed worthy of Léoville Las Cases. So it's like its own estate. Best after 2009. Smart Buy. Score: 94 (James Suckling, winespectator.com, March 31, 2003)

Y D'YQUEM 2016
AC Bordeaux

546580 (D) 750mL $299.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2016 Ygrec (or "Y" as it is shown on the label and referred to) is, of course, the dry white from Yquem, and this latest release is a blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Sémillon picked between 5 September and 13 September. It has a fresh, attractive bouquet with citrus peel, Nashi pear, grass clippings and gooseberry, the Sauvignon firmly in the driving seat. The palate is where the Sémillon says: hold on a moment, it's not all Sauvignon. The texture is waxy, and there are lovely peachy, watermelon notes that dovetail into a saline finish that leaves you wanting more. True, it is not cheap, and you could argue there is a plethora of cheaper alternatives. But they are not Yquem. Drink Date: 2017-2030. Score: 91 (Neal Martin, robertparker.com, Sept. 29, 2017)

CHÂTEAU D'YQUEM 2015
1er Cru Supérieur, AC Sauternes

546598 (S) 375mL $379.00

TASTING NOTE: This is an incredible young Yquem that is so vinous like a great vintage of Montrachet but then on the palate it turns to Yquem with spice, dried fruit and mushroom as well as sweet fruit. Last[s] for minutes. Acidity is all there giving it a dynamic vibrance that jolts your senses. Special wine. It has a little more than 140 grams of residual sugar, less than the legendary of 2001. But is very close in greatness. Let's wait and see. Score: 99-100 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, April 29, 2016)

CLOS MARSALETTE BLANC 2015
AC Pessac-Léognan

545384 (XD) 750mL $47.00

TASTING NOTE: Very fresh, with just-cut peach, yellow apple and green plum fruit that is expressive, picking up a strong verbena note along the way. Shows energetic honeysuckle and heather accents through the finish, marrying richness and zip. Distinct from most Pessac whites. Drink now through 2020. Score: 91 (James Molesworth, winespectator.com, March 31, 2017)

RAPET AUX FOURNAUX SAVIGNY-LÈS-BEAUNE 1ER CRU 2015
AC

545624 (XD) 750mL $67.00

TASTING NOTE: Creamy dark fruit mingles with complex nuances of rich soil in this supple and appealing wine, which exemplifies the generosity of which Beaune's premier crus are capable, with additional tension and concentration thanks to the vintage. Drinking Window: 2018-2035. Score: 92 (William Kelley, decanter.com, Dec. 31, 2016)

DOMAINE DE LA POUSSE D'OR LES JAROLIÈRES POMMARD 1ER CRU 2014
AC

535880 (XD) 750mL $135.00

TASTING NOTE: The attractively fresh, cool and markedly restrained nose only grudgingly reveals its more deeply pitched nose of plum, dark currant, earth, forest floor and discreet game hints. There is a sleek muscularity to the intense and relatively powerful medium-bodied flavors that possess evident minerality on the structured finale that is quite firm but not especially austere. I very much like this and it is recommended provided you have the patience to cellar it. Drink: 2026+. Sweet Spot Outstanding. Score: 93 (Allen Meadows, burghound.com, April 15, 2016)

DOMAINE EDMOND CORNU & FILS CORTON-BRESSANDES GRAND CRU 2014
AC

545020 (XD) 750mL $147.00

TASTING NOTE: An attractively ripe and more complex nose features aromas of wild red berries, plenty of earth, wet stone, spice and sauvage hints, all of which is trimmed in a deft amount of oak. There is a sleek muscularity to the impressively dense big-bodied flavors that possess good energy on the detailed, clean and refreshing finish ... firm, serious and moderately austere finish. This is textbook Bressandes that is going to need 12 to 15 years to arrive at its full apogee. Patience absolutely required as this will not be an especially good candidate for early consumption. Drink: 2026+. Sweet spot. Score: 91-94 (Allen Meadows, burghound.com, April 15, 2016)

DOMAINE FAIVELEY AUX VIGNERONDES NUITS-ST.-GEORGES 1ER CRU 2014
AC

535898 (XD) 750mL $105.00

TASTING NOTE: A core of violet and black currant notes marks this intense, brooding red. The vivid acidity creates tension, while the dense tannins provide a matrix of support for the red and black fruit, tobacco, spice and mineral flavors. Fine length. Best from 2020 through 2035. Score: 94 (Bruce Sanderson, winespectator.com, May 31, 2017)

JAFFELIN SUR LES GRÈVES CLOS SAINTE-ANNE MONOPOLE BEAUNE 1ER CRU 2014
AC

535872 (XD) 750mL $68.00

TASTING NOTE: This is a smoky and ripe wine from Beaune's top premier cru. Structured, dusty tannins support the red fruits and acidity. The combination is already rich, but holds good potential as well. It will be best from 2020. Score: 92 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Oct. 1, 2016)

BUTTERFIELD EMBAZÉES CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET 1ER CRU 2015
AC

540203 (XD) 750mL $125.00

The vineyards of Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru les Embazées are situated on the southern border of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation. With a long natural fermentation and ageing in oak barrels, this wine packs a powerful punch. Considered one of the wines of the year in the 2018 French wine guide book Bettane & Desseauve, it is described as (translated from French) "fleshy, generous, very long, complex, very fruity, embodies the spirit of Chassagne with a mix including, full body, precision and freshness. Drink now through 2025."

DOMAINE PINSON FOURCHAUME CHABLIS 1ER CRU 2015
AC

231944 (XD) 750mL $50.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2015 Chablis Fourchaume comes from half a hectare of 20-year-old vines and is raised over nine months in wooden barrels. It has a lifted, peony and yellow flower-scented bouquet that opens nicely in the glass - pure and comely. The palate is well balanced with a lively citrus-fresh opening, touches of orange rind and plenty of mineralité on the brisk finish that just needs to develop more persistency. Give this a year in bottle. Drink Date: 2019-2027. Score: 90 (Neal Martin, robertparker.com, Aug. 31, 2017)

DOMAINE TAWSE VERGELESSES SAVIGNY-LÈS-BEAUNE 1ER CRU 2015
AC

540161 (XD) 750mL $65.00

Moray Tawse, famed for his multi-award-winning eponymous Niagara winery, is at the forefront of a new wave of vignerons and micro-négociants who embrace organic and biodynamic farming practices. "I was very impressed by the quality of these wines," says wine critic Neal Martin. "Very intense, detailed and unapologetically very terroir specific (robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2016)."

TASTING NOTE: The 2015 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Vergelesses Blanc has a pretty bouquet with lime flower and white peach scents, moderate definition but with good vigor. The palate is well balanced with lime and green apple on the entry, a keen line of acidity and the 20% new oak lending a little more weight on the finish. Enjoy this over the next 4-6 years. Score: 87-89 (Neal Martin, robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2016)

JOSEPH FAIVELEY CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET 2015
AC

535914 (XD) 750mL $90.00

Domaine Faiveley is one of the largest and most illustrious domaines in Burgundy. It was founded in 1825 in the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges under Joseph Faiveley, a wine merchant with a passion for travel. In the early 19th century, trade had begun between Burgundy and northern Europe, predominantly along the rivers and canals connecting the two regions. Merchants from Burgundy would travel along these paths to exchange their wines for textiles. Joseph Faiveley was one of these merchants, introducing his Burgundian wine to the world. Today, the house is run by seventh-generation Erwan Faiveley. The wine is grown in limestone-and-clay soil, harvested by hand and aged 14-16 months in oak.

LOUIS LATOUR CORTON-CHARLEMAGNE GRAND CRU 2015
AC

41756 (XD) 750mL $252.00

TASTING NOTE: So perfumed with exotic, tropical-fruit aromas that draw you into the glass. Full-bodied, layered and textured with soft creamy tannins and light stone and walnut undertones. Gun flint. Always a fantastic white. So constant. Drink or hold. Score: 97 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, April 13, 2017)

DOMAINE MARC MOREY & FILS EN VIRONDOT CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET 1ER CRU 2014
AC

248716 (XD) 750mL $138.00

TASTING NOTE: There is enough reduction present to warrant decanting this if you're going to try a bottle soon. Otherwise the classic minerality and refinement of a fine Virandot are present and there is plenty of verve and flavor impact on the linear and citrus-infused finish. Like the Caillerets if this adds more depth my score could be conservative. Drink: 2021+. Outstanding. Score: 92 (Allen Meadows, burghound.com, June 15, 2016)

PASCAL BOUCHARD LES CLOS CHABLIS GRAND CRU 2011
AC

406314 (XD) 750mL $93.00

TASTING NOTE: Always one of the most impressive of the Grand Crus, Les Clos reveals itself slowly. This dense, wood aged wine is still firm, very mineral in texture, chewy and dense. Age this wine and don't drink before 2018. Cellar Selection. Score: 94 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Nov. 1, 2013)

CHÂTEAU DES JACQUES LA ROCHE MOULIN-À-VENT 2014
AC

535823 (XD) 750mL $44.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2014 Moulin a Vent la Roche was one of the best wines that I tasted from Château des Jacques in this vintage. I love the fruit profile here with dark plum, blackcurrant and bilberry - something almost New World about it, and I mean that in a positive sense. The palate is succulent and well balanced, plump in the mouth with plenty of new oak that will require a couple of years to be subsumed. What it has is a sense of joie de vivre thanks to its vivacious and pure finish. You could drink this now but I would opt to leave it 12-18 months just to soak up that wood. Drink Date: 2018-2026. Score: 91 (Neal Martin, robertparker.com, Aug. 30, 2016)

DOMAINE SAINT-PRÉFERT CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE BLANC 2016
AC

540179 (XD) 750mL $77.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc boasts a lovely nose of toasted grain and pineapple. The wine is medium to full-bodied, with a rich texture that's channeled into a long, lime-sherbet finish. It's a blend of Roussanne and Clairette that I'd suggest consuming over the next couple of years. Drink Date: 2017-2020. Score: 92 (Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com, Oct. 31, 2017)

CHÂTEAU DE BEAUCASTEL CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE 2015
AC

986356 (XD) 1500mL $190.00

TASTING NOTE: A stunner from the get-go, with waves of thoroughly seductive boysenberry, plum, blueberry and raspberry reduction forming the core, while roasted apple wood, rooibos tea, bergamot, and anise notes flash throughout. Has plenty of bass, with a Turkish coffee accent and a hint of alder driving underneath. Everything moves in lockstep through the seriously long finish. Best from 2020 through 2045. Score: 97 (James Molesworth, winespectator.com, 2017)

DOMAINE FONT DE MICHELLE CUVÉE ÉTIENNE GONNET CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE 2015
AC

706556 (XD) 750mL $80.00

TASTING NOTE: Plush, creamy and supple, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Etienne Gonnet is a lovely, elegant wine. Cherries and cocoa powder elements are joined by ample spice on the long, intense finish. While already approachable, it should drink well for 15 years or more. Drink Date: 2017-2030. FERRATON PÈRE & FILS LIEU DIT MONTMAIN CÔTE-RÔTIE 2013
AC

545087 (XD) 750mL $105.00

TASTING NOTE: A big step up over the l'Eglantine, the single vineyard 2013 Côte Rôtie Lieu Dit Montmain offers a richer, sweeter bouquet of raspberries, crushed flowers and spice; the wine is full-bodied with richness and ultra-fine tannin that frame the finish beautifully. Coming from a site just to the east of Les Grandes Places (this is rugged, schist soils), completely destemmed and aged in a scant 15% new wood, enjoy this classic, textbook Côte Rôtie over the coming decade. Drink Date: 2015-2025. Score: 94 (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2015)

CAVE DE TAIN HERMITAGE 2007
AC

326629 (XD) 750mL $89.00

TASTING NOTE: Deep ruby. Mineral-laced aromas of blackberry and cherry-cola, with a smoky nuance building in the glass. Sappy and precise, offering spicy dark berry flavors and a subtle touch of violet pastille. Closes supple and long, with smooth tannins giving shape to the wine's sweet dark fruit. This drinks very well now after an hour or so of decanting. Score: 90 (Josh Raynolds, vinous.com, March 2014)

CHÂTEAU LA NERTHE CLOS DE BEAUVENIR CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE BLANC 2015
AC

302802 (XD) 750mL $162.00

TASTING NOTE: Not yet bottled, the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Clos de Beauvenir Blanc is more fresh and steely than previous vintages, yet still has medium to full-bodied richness, terrific notes of apple blossom, brioche and crushed rocks, impeccable balance and a great finish. I suspect it will benefit from a year in bottle and keep for a decade or more. Score: 92-95 (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, Oct. 28, 2016)

RENÉ MURÉ CLOS SAINT LANDELIN SÉLECTIONS DE GRAINS NOBLES PINOT GRIS 2014
AC Alsace Grand Cru

969345 (S) 750mL $50.00

TASTING NOTE: Heady notes of ripe pear and chalky stone entice on the nose. The dry, focused palate adds aromatic spice, some white pepper too, and glides along a faultline of pure, fresh acidity. CRISTAL BRUT ROSÉ CHAMPAGNE 2009
AC

352716 (D) 750mL $666.00

TASTING NOTE: Still young but already impressive, this new vintage of Cristal Rosé is dry and perfumed, packed with fruit and tightened by acidity. It features red fruit, zesty blood orange and ripe apple flavors. Because it is young and because it is dry, the wine needs to age. Drink from 2019. TASTING NOTE: From 30-year-old vines in a southeast-facing, 0.8-hectare plot ... on flinty clay soils, the 2014 Sancerre Les Herses opens with a lovely purity and minerality on the deep, elegant and floral nose with its fresh and very delicate red berry (wild strawberries) aromas. Fresh, pure and silky on the palate, this is a full-bodied and very elegant, silky textured yet firmly structured Pinot with tension, grip and expression. A serious and persistent red Sancerre with a long and mineral finish; the freshness and wild grip of a Moric Blaufränkisch. Highly recommended. Drink Date: 2016-2024. GALARDI TERRA DI LAVORO ROCCAMONFINA 2013
IGT

487520 (XD) 750mL $100.00

TASTING NOTE: Good full ruby. Captivating aromas of black cherry, cocoa, graphite and sweet spices, subtle notes of dried flowers, and woodsmoke emerging with air. Sweet, plush and seamless; round and full, but with enticing inner-mouth perfume to the saline red berry, cherry and minerally flavors. Finishes very long and suave, with broad, polished tannins and a repeating graphite nuance. This is a beauty. An 80 percent Aglianico and 20 percent Piedirosso blend. Drinking window: 2018-2028. RUSSIZ COL DISÔRE SUPERIORE COLLIO 2015
DOCG

671180 (XD) 750mL $45.00

TASTING NOTE: The bouquet to this white is wonderfully complex, featuring dried flowers and citrus, caramelized but fresh apples and hints of thyme, cloves and spices. A full, impressive palate that has a ton of dried pineapple and mangoes on offer, real verve from the acidity and a long finish. A blend of pinot bianco, friulano, sauvignon and ribolla gialla. LODALI LORENS BARBERA D'ALBA 2015

TASTING NOTE: 100% Barbera. Red and black fruits, violet and Indian spice on the nose. Rich palate with liquorice and kirsch, uplifting zesty acidity and well integrated silky tannins. Lovely fruit concentration and purity. A well made wine which will benefit from ageing. Platinum: Best Barbera. Score: 95 (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2017)

CARLO REVELLO & FIGLI R.G. BAROLO 2013
DOCG

539254 (XD) 750mL $82.00

TASTING NOTE: The purity of nebbiolo fruit is impressive here with fresh strawberry and floral character. Medium to full body, fine and silky tannins and a gorgeous finish. All in finesse and length. Drink in 2021. Score: 95 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Feb. 19, 2017)

PAOLO SCAVINO MONVIGLIERO BAROLO 2013
DOCG

337394 (XD) 750mL $99.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2013 Barolo Monvigliero really jumps out, thanks to its larger-than-life flavor profile and its impressive intensity. The wine shows ripe fruit aromas of dark cherry and plum, but it balances those aromas very nicely against spice, dark tobacco and crushed mineral. The effect is elegant and polished, and the tannins add ample support at the back. This wine promises a slow evolution over time. Paolo Scavino raises the banner high for the Monvigliero cru. Drink Date: 2018-2035. Score: 95 (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, Aug. 31, 2017)

PUNSET CAMPO QUADRO BARBARESCO 2009
DOCG

419614 (XD) 750mL $63.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2009 Barbaresco Campo Quadro delivers the goods. I have found that vintage plays a specifically important role in the wines of Punset. Age is another factor as these wines gain their balance only after a good amount of time in the cellar. This Barbaresco from the 2009 vintage shows an interesting range of aromas that span from wild berry and dried blueberry to very smokey tar, asphalt and granite. In the mouth, the wine is tight, streamlined and it shows firm tannic structure. Campo Quadro is part of the San Cristoforo cru in the Neive township. Drink Date: 2017-2030. Score: 92 (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, Jan. 31, 2017)

PLANETA MAROCCOLI SYRAH 2011
IGT Sicilia

537795 (XD) 750mL $45.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2011 Syrah Maroccoli is a very interesting interpretation of both grape and territory. The Syrah component comes through loud and clear with soft fruit layers, dark cherry, spice, cured meat and smoked bacon. You also taste Sicily thanks to Mediterranean herb, toasted pistachio and green caper. The tannins are soft[l]y textured and plump. This wine would drink nicely with rolled veal involtini stuffed with ham and bread crumbs. Drink Date: 2015-2022. Score: 90 (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2015)

LA VITE LUCENTE 2015
IGT Toscana

971440 (XD) 3000mL $209.00

POGGIO AL TESORO SONDRAIA BOLGHERI SUPERIORE 2013
DOC Bolgheri

292391 (XD) 750mL $60.00

TASTING NOTE: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Plenty of capsicum and pepper notes on the nose, tomato leaf and ripe plums. Delicious sweet core of ripe red and black cherry fruit on the palate with very complex savoury notes. Great juicy fruits and long complex finish. Score: 96 (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2017)

ALTESINO BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2012
DOCG

994095 (D) 750mL $63.00

TASTING NOTE: Cherry, leather and iron notes mark this suave, elegant red. A bit reticent now, but the fruit is fresh and long on the finish. The dense tannins leave a mouthcoating impression, but this opens up beautifully over a few hours. Best from 2021 through 2035. Highly Recommended. Ranked #11 in Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2017. Score: 96 (Bruce Sanderson, winespectator.com, June 15, 2017)

TABARRINI COLLE ALLE MACCHIE MONTEFALCO SAGRANTINO 2012

406371 (XD) 750mL $69.00

TASTING NOTE: This lovely red shows a stallion's marriage of power and grace, layering flavors of crushed black raspberry, herbes de Provence, mocha and ground spice with dense, ripe tannins. Full-bodied, this is long and creamy, echoing more spice and mineral accents on the lasting finish. Best from 2020 through 2032. 175 cases made. NICOLIS AMBROSAN AMARONE DELLA VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO 2008

538843 (XD) 750mL $97.00

TASTING NOTE: A graceful red that carries its medium to full body well, offering fine-grained tannins layered with a subtle streak of smoky mineral and pleasing flavors of ripe black raspberry and sweet brown bread. Hints of dried lavender, orange zest and spice box linger on the chewy finish. Drink now through 2028. 1,500 cases made. Score: 93 (Alison Napjus, winespectator.com, March 31, 2017)

QUINTARELLI ROSSO DEL BEPI 2008
IGT

538645 (XD) 750mL $229.00

TASTING NOTE: In 2008, Quintarelli did not bottle Amarone, but instead chose to declassify the juice into Rosso del Bepi. Fragrant and expressive, with a good deal of aromatic nuance, the Rosso is a terrific choice for readers who want to explore the Quintarelli style, without splurging for one of the flagship Amarones. Drinking Window: 2017-2027. Score: 93 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, Sept. 2016)

BERTANI AMARONE DELLA VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO 2007
DOC

362277 (D) 750mL $140.00

This wine was awarded Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso (2017).

TASTING NOTE: The 2007 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is an impressive wine built to last. Bertani does a great job of presenting the purity of the wine's fruit, its territory and its tradition. The Amarone is not overbuilt or too muscular. Instead, it walks with small, poised footsteps that carry it long and wide. The bouquet shows classic notes of dried fruit, toasted almond, resin, cola and grilled herb. I would not suggest serving this bottle for at least 24 months. Drink Date: 2015-2030. Score: 94+ (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, Dec. 29, 2014)

MARQUÉS DE ELCIEGO DEDICION LIMITADA 2010
DOCa Rioja

534578 (XD) 750mL $68.00

TASTING NOTE: Talk about a ripped, structured wine that could use more rest. This pumps out minerally blackberry and coconut aromas along with raw, inky intensity. The wine's texture is defined by a strong tannic backbone, while flavors of burnt toast, bacon, licorice and black fruits finish with graphite and energy. Drink from 2015-2023. Cellar Selection. VIÑA TONDONIA RESERVA 2004
DOCa Rioja

356337 (XD) 750mL $53.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2004 Viña Tondonia Reserva is a completely different story. It is a worthy follower of the 2001, the greatest of the Viña Tondonia Reservas of recent times. It has the usual blend and usual levels of alcohol and acidity, bottled after six years in oak barrels. The nose feels savory (if that's possible-umami?) and developed, with tertiary aromas and good balance between spices, leathery notes, cherries and balsamic notes of cigar box and incense. The palate is both round and crisp, with refined tannins. It has very good balance with subtle acidity and very good persistence. Drink Date: 2015-2024. Score: 94 (Luis Gutiérrez, robertparker.com, April 29, 2015)

TAWSE CHERRY AVENUE PINOT NOIR 2014
VQA Twenty Mile Bench

398347 (XD) 750mL $48.95

Cherry Avenue vineyard comprises three blocks named for the children of Moray and Joanne Tawse and is planted with Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Carly's Block was planted with Riesling in 1976 and is home to some of the Niagara Escarpment's oldest Riesling vines. The vineyard's Pinot Noir is sourced from Robyn's Block (one acre, planted in 2002 and 2005) and David's Block (two acres planted in 2005). As the vines in the latter two blocks have aged, the resulting wines have also evolved and, with each vintage, demonstrate greater complexity and depth. John Szabo, MS, writing on winealign.com in Feb. 2016, awarded the 2013 vintage 92 points. Expect similar excellence here.

JOHN DUVAL ELIGO SHIRAZ 2014
Barossa Valley

399642 (D) 750mL $125.00

TASTING NOTE: (Fermented and aged for 20 months in large new French oak barrels) Brilliant purple. Aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, along with hints of candied licorice, star anise and incense. Palate-staining bitter cherry and boysenberry flavors put on weight and spread out with air while maintaining urgency. Shows outstanding clarity and mineral lift on the strikingly long, blue-fruit-driven finish, which features a smoky mineral quality and harmonious, fine-grained tannins. Drinking Window: 2021-2029. TASTING NOTE: Henschke's 2013 Keyneton Euphonium is deep garnet-purple in color and exudes lovely, expressive blackberries and cherries on the nose, with menthol, pepper, anise and cloves--plus a waft of fragrant earth. A full, rich and concentrated blend, with firm and grainy tannins, this wine is well balanced and possesses great structure. Score: 92+ (Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW, robertparker.com, June 29, 2016)

YALUMBA THE CALEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON/SHIRAZ 2012
South Australia

537316 (XD) 750mL $495.00

TASTING NOTE: This is the first vintage of Yalumba's new Cabernet/Shiraz-based flagship wine. Deep garnet in color, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz The Caley offers expressive baked blackberries, cherry cordial and blackcurrant jelly notes with suggestions of Chinese five spice, cedar and anise. The palate is built like a brick house, delivering a solid structure of firm, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness to support and complement the voluptuous, full-bodied flesh. It offers a very long, layered finish with lingering exotic spice and black berry preserves notes. Give it 3-5 more years in bottle and drink it over the next twenty-five. Drink Date: 2020-2045. 285239 (XD) 750mL $47.00

Gold Medal winner at Decanter World Wine Awards 2017.

TASTING NOTE: This was Duncan Savage's last vintage at Cape Point, so it's good to see him leave on a high note with this exceptional, barrel and amphora-fermented blend of Sauvignon Blanc with 16% Semillon. Rich, leesy and almost exotic, it's broader than the 2015, with some tropical notes, stylish oak and good balancing acidity. 2018-2021. Special Report on South Africa. TASTING NOTE: The 2013 Finca Canal Uco felt very expressive, different from the other two reds from Altamira (Aluvional and Piedra Infinita), more aromatic, with notes of blood oranges, flowers, not only violets, but also white flowers (lilies), and plenty of aromatic herbs, the aromas that you smell walking in the vineyard, lots of fennel, really layered and complex. This comes from a north-facing vineyard planted 11 years ago on chalk-rich soils where apple trees were grown before. Certainly a step up over the previous vintage, this is a complex, and a little wild, Malbec. The palate has really sophisticated, silky tannins with a soft texture and great acidity. There is less alcohol and ripeness, more subtleness. In this vintage this challenges Piedra Infinita. 2,900 bottles produced. Drink Date: 2015-2020. Score: 96 (Luis Gutiérrez, robertparker.com, Aug. 27, 2015)

TRAPICHE ISCAY MALBEC/CABERNET FRANC 2011
Mendoza

450585 (XD) 750mL $50.00

TASTING NOTE: The aromas are perfect here with dried flowers, ink, dried mushrooms, chili, and other spices. Graphite, too. Full bodied, yet so refined and polished. Superb definition and depth. Better in 2020 but already great. A blend of malbec from Gualtallary and cabernet franc from Altamira. This is an iconic wine from Argentine. Drink or hold. Score: 98 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, May 20, 2016)

SEA SMOKE SOUTHING PINOT NOIR 2015
Santa Rita Hills, Santa Barbara County

9795 (XD) 750mL $112.00

Sea Smoke was started in 1999 by Bob Davids, a fan of Burgundy and the CEO of a computer game company. Pinot Noir was first produced here in 2002, and Sea Smoke's offerings are among the most highly sought-after in California. The name Sea Smoke is an allusion to the evening fogs that flow in from the Pacific Ocean through the Santa Ynez River canyon, which falls between the Santa Rita and Santa Ynez mountains. The fog is a key factor in creating ideal conditions for the development of the high-quality Pinot Noir for which Sea Smoke is renowned. The fogs allow for perfectly balanced fruit by cooling the grapes and preserving their bright acidity after the long, sunny, warm days, which helps to drive the ripening and flavour development. Sea Smoke Pinots are precise, beautifully textured, elegant and nuanced expressions of the grape that are undeniably Californian, while also showing a refined eloquence and deference to the wines of Burgundy that so inspired Bob Davids.

BARNETT CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014
Spring Mountain District

221812 (XD) 750mL $120.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot and Merlot. A beautiful example of Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon with its blue and black fruits (raspberries, blueberries interwoven with white flowers), this wine has an opaque purple color, a wonderful sweet kiss of delicate oak and forest floor. It is full-bodied and rich with supple tannins. It is a classic 2014 that is approachable, and frankly irresistible already, but promises to evolve gracefully for another 15 or more years. Drink Date: 2016-2031. Score: 94 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2016)

KINSELLA ESTATES SPENCER VINEYARD CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014
Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County

553628 (XD) 750mL $151.00

TASTING NOTE: A blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot, with 345 cases produce[d], the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Spencer Vineyard is equally impressive, exhibiting more graphite notes along with licorice, underbrush and copious quantities of blackcurrant and blackberry fruit. The wine is full-bodied, with sweet tannin (characteristic of all of these Kinsella Cabernet Sauvignons). Readers know that sometimes Dry Creek Cabernets can be rustic in their tannic framework, but that is not the case here. Drink Date: 2016-2041. Score: 95 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, Oct. 28, 2016)

SEGHESIO HOME RANCH ZINFANDEL 2014
Alexander Valley, Sonoma County

70391 (D) 750mL $80.00

TASTING NOTE: Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2014 Zinfandel Home Ranch is profoundly scented of black forest cake, prunes and dried fruit cake with hints of lavender, baking spices, espresso and licorice. It really packs in the concentrated preserved black fruits and baking spices flavors on the rich, full-bodied palate with chunky tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing with great length. Drink Date: 2017-2025. Score: 94+ (Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW, robertparker.com, April 28, 2017)

BLACK STALLION ESTATE LIMITED RELEASE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2013
Napa Valley

553149 (XD) 750mL $90.00

TASTING NOTE: Juicy black fruit stars in this lush, expansive red, nicely priced for the appellation and providing great value for the quality. Violets appear on the nose, softening the length of tannin and toasted oak that follow. Score: 91 (Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 31, 2016)

AXIOS CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2012
Napa Valley

553677 (XD) 750mL $222.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2012 (once again 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the same aging regimen) is a sexy, dramatic, ostentatious style of Cabernet Sauvignon, with loads of ripe blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, some licorice, graphite and forest floor. It is full-bodied, opulent and sexy. Interestingly, I would have thought the natural alcohol was higher than the 2011, but they were both analyzed and found to have identical alcohol levels of 14.4%. Nevertheless, production in this vintage was average for Axios at just under 500 cases of wine. Drink Date: 2016-2031. Score: 94 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2015)

L'ECOLE NO. 41 PERIGEE 2014
Seven Hills Vineyard, Walla Walla Valley

374413 (D) 750mL $89.00

TASTING NOTE: Very oaky nose but the cherry and cassis fruit comes through. Quite full, ample and powerful with a fine but firm chassis of tannins and inviting blueberry and herbal flavours. An engaging wine with more than a little presence. Score: 95 (Decanter World Wine Awards, 2017)

TAYLOR FLADGATE 30-YEAR-OLD TAWNY PORT
DOP

540252 (S) 750mL $185.00

TASTING NOTE: Suave and elegant, with lively acidity to the butterscotch, caramel, hazelnut and custard flavors, stretching into the plush midpalate. The long finish is spicy and fresh, showing notes of citrus rind. Drink now. Score: 92 (Kim Marcus, winespectator.com, May 31, 2016)

KLEIN CONSTANTIA VIN DE CONSTANCE 2013
WO Constantia

5033 (S) 500mL $105.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2013 Vin de Constance Natural Sweet Wine was matured in 500-liter barrels for around 36 months. It has a beautiful bouquet with honey, quince, pressed yellow flowers and Mirabelle. It has wonderful definition and purity. The palate is very well balanced with a mellifluous texture and beautifully judged acidity as it just sashays along. It fans out on the finish with honey, quince, a touch of rhubarb and ginger, extraordinarily persistent in the mouth. Matthew Day, current winemaker, opined that he thought the 2012 would be the best ever, but the freshness might see it overtaken. This is awesome. Score: 96 (Neal Martin, robertparker.com, April 28, 2017)
