MALIVOIRE WINE CO.
Malivoire winemaker Shiraz
Mottiar, a graduate of Brock
University’s Cool Climate Oenology
and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI)
has a longstanding commitment
to the Niagara wine region. For
over ten years Shiraz worked in
notable Niagara vineyards and
wineries as well in Australia’s
famous Yarra Valley. Joining The
Malivoire Wine Company in
2000, Shiraz took the reigns as
winemaker in 2005. Mottiar
sees his role as harnessing the
individuality of the vintage, to
create distinctive wines that reflect
the quality of the vineyards.
“ I’m excited by the idea of expressing
the regional character of our wines
which, by the way, I love to drink as
much as make!”

MALIVOIRE GAMAY 2005 VQA Niagara Escarpment
2005 is turning out to be an outstanding vintage for Ontario red wines. Malivoire's Gamay has plenty of ripe cherry and bramble berry fruit, with hints of cedar and vanilla on the finish. The ripe tannins and lively acidity make this a great wine to pair with a selection of cured meats, medium cheeses, fresh fruit and baguette.
