In 1988, a small group of Ontario
wineries formed the Vintners
Quality Alliance (VQA), a volunteer
association dedicated to protecting
and promoting the unique character
of Ontario wines. This was an important
step leading to the quality revolution
that Ontario wines experienced
in the 1990’s. In 2000, the Ontario
Government officially mandated the
VQA with the power to administer and
enforce Ontario’s wine regulations.
When you see this emblem on a wine,
it is your guarantee that 100% of the
grapes come from Ontario and that
it meets that high standard of quality
demanded by
Ontario VQA.
