TASTING NOTE: No doubt Bordeaux needs more wines like this, emphasizing ripe, fleshy fruit (in this case 100% Merlot from relatively modest yields for this price point of 55 hectoliters per hectare). More powerful and chunkier than usual (13% natural alcohol), this totally tank-fermented and aged wine is designed to give immediate pleasure, and this looks to be the best they have made. (Tasted once.) Score: 87-88 (RP)

TASTING NOTE: One of my favorite low level Bordeaux, this exceptionally well made wine displays a dense purple color in addition to abundant blackberry and blueberry fruit intertwined with notions of licorice and incense. Fleshy, full-bodied, and ripe, this delicious Bordeaux coats the palate. It should drink beautifully for 3-4 years. (Tasted once.) Drink: 2010-2014. Score: 88-90 (RP)
