DE MONTAL GRAND BAS ARMAGNAC 1987
Gift Box, AC

507574 700mL $122.00

Montal is one of Armagnac's finest producers, and for fans of Armagnac, these vintage-dated examples are always compelling. This was distilled from Colombard, which imparts the fruit tones; Folle Blanche, which adds finesse; Baco, which imparts structure and body; and Ugni-Blanc, which provides the aromas. Distilled in three copper stills - named Athos, Porthos and Aramis - and then aged in oak barrels, you can expect a round, full and flavourful taste experience with just a touch of evocative spice. One of life's great treats.

CHÂTEAU MALESCOT SAINT-EXUPERY 2012
3e Cru, AC Margaux

581728 (XD) 750mL $93.00

TASTING NOTE: This concentrated wine brings out all the qualities of 2012 vintage-fruitiness, juicy black fruit and great swathes of fresh acidity. It's a finely balanced wine. Score: 91 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, April 12, 2013)

CHÂTEAU HAUT-BAILLY 2011
AC Pessac-Léognan Grand Cru Classé

511014 (XD) 750mL $167.00

TASTING NOTE: The saturated ruby/purple-hued 2011 Haut-Bailly exhibits a glorious, subtle, noble set of aromatics consisting of red and black currants, sweet cherries, graphite, truffles and a faint hint of wood spice. The wine hits the palate with the profound elegance and purity that have become so much a characteristic under Wilmers and Sanders. Still youthful, with good acidity and freshness, this brilliant, medium-bodied 2011 needs another 4-5 years of bottle age, and should evolve effortlessly for 20-25 years. Score: 94+ (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, April 29, 2014)

CHÂTEAU HAUT BRISSON 2010
AC SAin

496901 (XD) 750mL $49.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2010 Haut-Brisson displays a sweeter, more forward and evolved personality compared to the Reserve, with less oak but lots of fleshy black currant and kirsch-like fruit intermixed with some lavender, licorice, and a touch of spice box. The wine is medium to full-bodied, round and ideal for drinking over the next decade or more. Score: 90 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, Feb. 27, 2013)

CHÂTEAU LAGRANGE 2010
3e Cru, AC Saint-Julien

199372 (XD) 750mL $124.00

TASTING NOTE: Loads of tension and form. It can be cellared for decades, but it's balanced and beautiful already. Lots of blueberry, licorice and blackberry character. Try in 2018. Score: 96 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, July 22, 2014)

CLOS CANON 2010
Second wine of Château Canon, AC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

671289 (XD) 750mL $64.00

TASTING NOTE: A young red with bitter chocolate and berry character. Full body, with fine tannins and a medium finish. Refined and very pretty. The second wine of Canon. Hard not to drink now, but better in 2016. Score: 92 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Feb. 16, 2013)

CHÂTEAU LA CABANNE 2009
AC Pomerol

275065 (XD) 750mL $81.00

TASTING NOTE: Plenty of milk chocolate and flowers with hints of currants. Full and layered with lovely tannins and a clean finish. Very pretty. Better in 2016. Score: 92 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Aug. 2012)

CHÂTEAU LARCIS DUCASSE 2009
AC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé

512236 (XD) 750mL $198.00

TASTING NOTE: A complex set of aromas ranging from coffee to forest floor, herbs, licorice, blackberries, cassis and cherries all seem to jump from the glass, and then are joined by a hint of charcoal as well camphor. This is an impressive, full-bodied, dense, concentrated wine that is more up-front and approachable than the 2005 was at a similar stage, but it is remarkably expressive, full-bodied, dense and capable of lasting 20-25 years. Score: 96 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, Dec. 22, 2011)

CLOS DU MARQUIS 2009
AC Saint-Julien

512244 (XD) 750mL $122.00

TASTING NOTE: Now positioned as a totally separate vineyard and a real clos (enclosed walled vineyard), this blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot from Jean-Hubert Delon is a beauty. Creme de cassis notes intermixed with some vanillin, crushed rock and spring flowers jump from the glass. Full-bodied and powerful (nearly 14% natural alcohol), this is a generously endowed, rich wine that was first made in 1902. The 2009 should drink well for 20-25 years. Readers need to think of it as a true classified growth, although technically it is not. Score: 93 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, Dec. 22, 2011)

CHÂTEAU CALON-SÉGUR 1995
3e Cru, AC Saint Estèphe

512285 (XD) 750mL $270.00

TASTING NOTE: Tasted from an ex-château bottle at BI Wine & Spirits Calon-Segur dinner in London. The 1995 Calon-Segur was the vintage that raised the profile of this estate and heralded the start of the late Mme Gasqueton's era. At 20 years of age, it shows no signs of reaching the end of its plateau. Far from it. It has an endearing bouquet that still seems youthful: brambly red fruit, asphalt and a light marine influence. Allowing the wine to open, there is a subtle winegum scent. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, impressive depth and backbone, the second half having mellowed in recent years, rendering this approachable; hints of secondary truffle and smoke notes emerging with aeration. It has been several years since I last tasted this wine, but it is one that seems to become more and more impressive with age. Robert Parker rightly lauded this Calon-Ségur at the time of release. Twenty years on, it is fulfilling all its promise. Tasted March 2015. Drink Date: 2015-2045. Score: 94 (Neal Martin, robertparker.com, Oct. 28, 2016)

CHATEAU BROWN BLANC 2012
AC Pessac-Léognan

16527 (XD) 750mL $60.00

TASTING NOTE: A pretty talc hint leads off, giving way to tarragon, straw and lemon curd flavors. Turns broader and gentler on the finish, revealing an underlying note of paraffin that adds a caressing edge. Drink now through 2017. Score: 92 (James Molesworth, winespectator.com, April 30, 2014)

CHÂTEAU BROUSTET 2010
2e Cru, AC Sauternes

511451 (S) 750mL $38.00

TASTING NOTE: Pure ripe orange peel and apricot. Some caramel and vanilla. This Sauternes is really pure and elegant. Luscious wonderfully focused fruit on the palate with great focus and balance. Elegant and charming. Structured. Best in years from here. Drink now or hold. Score: 94 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Feb. 16, 2013)

DOMAINE SEGUIN MANUEL POMMARD LES PETITS NOIZONS 2014
AC

494989 (XD) 750mL $77.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2014 Pommard Petits Noizons had to shake off a little reduction when first poured, though underneath lies attractive brambly red berry fruit intermingling with dried rose petal aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a crisp, structured entry that translates Pommard with great clarity. There is energy in this Pommard with very fine salinité towards the finish - it comes recommended. Score: 90 (Neal Martin, robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2016)

MAISON CHANZY CLOS DE VOUGEOT GRAND CRU 2014
AC

507640 (XD) 750mL $242.00

TASTING NOTE: Brooding, restrained aromatics with bright red fruit and subtle spice. Fine, grippy tannins are surrounded by vibrant strawberry and new leather characters. Complex, ripe, and long. Platinum - Best in Show: Best Pinot Noir. Score: 97 (Decanter Asia Wine Awards, 2016)

DOMAINE JESSIAUME SANTENAY LES GRAVIÈRES 1ER CRU 2013
AC

487488 (XD) 750mL $50.00

TASTING NOTE: This pure red is taut and mineral-driven, with strawberry and cherry flavors lurking in the shadows and a long, chalky aftertaste. Best from 2017 through 2024. Score: 90 (Bruce Sanderson, winespectator.com, May 31, 2016)

DOMAINE RENÉ BOUVIER GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN LES JEUNES ROIS 2011
AC

496802 (XD) 750mL $68.00

TASTING NOTE: From slopes above the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, this densely tannic wine has a powerful structure that brings out the wood and adds licorice flavors to the bitter cherry fruits. At the end, the year's signature freshness shows more strongly. Score: 92 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Sept. 2014)

DOMAINE SEGUIN MANUEL MEURSAULT LES CLOUS 2015
AC

495002 (XD) 750mL $79.00

Winemaker Thibault Marion has a reputation for crafting elegant, terroir-driven wines that many might consider reminiscent of a classic or traditional style of winemaking. His wines flower as they evolve and can often appear closed or tight when young. This will be a fresh and crisp wine with impressive focus and length and will reward up to ten+ years in the cellar.

DOMAINE JEAN-MARC PILLOT CHASSAGNE MONTRACHET LA MALTROIE BLANC 1ER CRU 2014
AC

490490 (XD) 750mL $98.00

TASTING NOTE: A touch of noble reduction to the aromas of apple, lime and fresh herbs. Juicy, brisk and dry, with flavors of lime, kiwi and passion fruit enlivened by stony minerality. Finishes saline and long, with hints of lime and dried fruits. Score: 90-92 (Stephen Tanzer, vinous.com, Sept. 2015)

BILLAUD-SIMON MONTÉE DE TONNERRE CHABLIS 1ER CRU 2013
AP

325241 (XD) 750mL $51.00

TASTING NOTE: A model of class and elegance, the 2013 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre hits all the right notes. Apple, pear, white flowers and crushed rocks are all nicely delineated in a saline, bright Chablis loaded with personality and class. The Montée de Tonnerre is one of my personal favorites in this range. Score: 91-93 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, August 2014)

PASCAL BOUCHARD BLANCHOT CHABLIS GRAND CRU 2013
AC

378166 (XD) 750mL $71.00

TASTING NOTE: Blanchot is at the southeastern end of the great Grand Cru slope that dominates the village of Chablis. Perfumed, elegant and with plenty of aging potential, this smoothly textured wine is shot through with tangy spice and zest. It is very rich, full of fruit and acidity that cuts through the texture and structure. Drink from 2019. Score: 93 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, May 2016)

DOMAINE ISABEL FERRANDO COLOMBIS CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE 2014
AC

416354 (D) 750mL $75.00

TASTING NOTE: Belies the generally approachable feel of the vintage, with a core of black currant, fig and raspberry pâte de fruit inlaid with Turkish coffee and melted black licorice notes. The long finish has serious tarry grip perfectly embedded in the fruit, so this should strut after some cellaring. Best from 2019 through 2029. Score: 94 (James Molesworth, winespectator.com, Nov. 15, 2016)

M. CHAPOUTIER CROZES-ERMITAGE LES VARONNIERS 2013
AC

490508 (XD) 750mL $80.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2013 Crozes Hermitage les Varonniers is brilliant. Coming from the western edge of Hermitage's Bessards lieu-dit (this is a cool, west-facing parcel of granite soils), its deep ruby/purple color is followed by classic granite-induced aromas and flavors of burning embers, cassis, licorice, spring flower and pepper. This Mini-Hermitage is medium-bodied, nicely concentrated and has building tannic grip; it will drink well for 10-15 years. Score: 93 (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, Dec. 30, 2015)

DOMAINE ERNEST BURN CLOS SAINT IMER LA CHAPELLE GOLDERT PINOT GRIS 2010
AC Alsace Grand Cru

441857 (S) 750mL $47.00

TASTING NOTE: Golden yellow with amber highlights. Very intense dried apricot and canned peach aromas are intensified by spicy botrytis. Creamy on entry, then sweet and suave in the middle, showing precise flavors of orange oil, poached pear, cinnamon apple pie and vanilla bean. Looks, smells and tastes like a sweet wine (it does have 60 g/l residual sugar) but the almost mind-numbing acidity here keeps this wine vibrant on the suave, rich, very long finish, which tastes drier than I would have expected from the numbers. About 50% of the grapes were hit by noble rot at the time of harvest. Score: 95 (Ian D'Agata, vinous.com, Nov. 2012)

NICOLAS FEUILLATTE CUVÉE PALMES D'OR BRUT CHAMPAGNE 2006
AC

732743 (XD) 750mL $153.00

TASTING NOTE: An elegant Champagne that offers flavors of poached pear, candied kumquat and dried cherry on a delicate mousse. Well-cut, with a lingering, mineral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2026. Score: 93 (Alison Napjus, winespectator.com, Nov. 30, 2015)

KRUG GRANDE CUVÉE BRUT CHAMPAGNE
AC

38562 (XD) 750mL $305.00

TASTING NOTE: Light gold. Nectarine, poached pear, toasted nuts, anise and buttered toast on the complex, mineral-tinged nose. Deeply concentrated but energetic and precise as well, offering sappy orchard and pit fruit flavors along with notes of brioche and marzipan. A bitter citrus pith note adds definition to the impressively long, smoky finish. Shows more power and heft than I've experienced from this bottling in recent years. Score: 94 (Josh Raynolds, vinous.com, Jan. 2015)

DOMAINE HUET VOUVRAY PÉTILLANT BRUT 2012
AC

496943 (D) 750mL $53.00

TASTING NOTE: Rich with ripe apples and pears, and a hint of nut and honey as well as subtle waxy notes. Has nice weight with a bit of fizziness. Lovely fruit here: it's ripe and quite full. Score: 90 (Jamie Goode, wineanorak.com, Aug. 16, 2016)

LOIMER SPIEGEL 1ÖTW GRÜNER VELTLINER 2014
Kamptal

113258 (D) 750mL $60.00

TASTING NOTE: This opens with smoky, almost smudgy and intriguing notes of yeast. Underneath, however, there is a wealth of green pear and lemon zest. The palate is uncommonly spicy: white pepper, fresh yeast and crushed aromatic kitchen herbs leave a lasting, salty tang that really hits you There is freshness and concentration and echoing brininess on the long finish. Score: 94 (Anne Krebiehl, MW, Wine Enthusiast, March 2016)

VOLLENWEIDER WOLFER GOLDGRUBE RIESLING 2014
Prädikatswein

499236 (D) 750mL $44.00

TASTING NOTE: From predominantly old and ungrafted vines (up to 100+ years) on grey slate soils, the 2014 Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling offers a clear, deep and intense Riesling aroma intertwined with crushed stones flavors on the nose. Full-bodied, rich and piquant on the palate, this is a solemn, very elegant, perfectly balanced and expressive Riesling with grip, and a very long and salty finish. This is great, generous and very persistent, dry Riesling with a lot of tension, minerals and depth. The balance of residual sugar and total acidity (6.7 grams per liter each) is just perfect and I suppose this wine can age for 15 years, at least. Score: 93 (Stephan Reinhardt, robertparker.com, March 3, 2016)

FRANZ HASS MANNA 2013
IGT Vigneti delle Dolomiti

499343 (XD) 750mL $48.00

TASTING NOTE: Although it is hard to make out the varietal blend, the 2013 Manna is a terrific IGT wine that speaks volumes about the cool climate, mountainous north of Italy and its beautiful wines. It is a true Italian cuvée from the Dolomites (in a screw cap bottle). This white blend of Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Kerner and Gewürztraminer offers crisp aromas and a delineated approach in which stone fruit, wild sage, citrus and mineral nuances are beautifully presented. The integration of those layers is seamless and smooth. In the mouth, Manna shows noticeable richness and creaminess. Drink Date: 2016-2024. Score: 92 (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, July 28, 2016)

PATERNOSTER ROTONDO AGLIANICO DEL VULTURE 2012
DOC

499285 (XD) 750mL $36.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2012 Aglianico del Vulture Rotondo is a delicious and succulent wine with a nostalgic twist. The wine evokes some of the most authentic Aglianico aromas with dark fruit and volcanic ash. The label depicts a little row of pine trees that frame an abandoned house and the drawing renders an almost Tuscan-like dreamy fantasy world. Those of us who are familiar with the area know that a massive volcanic cone was cut from the frame. The reality is another. In the mouth, this wine shows tight tannins and considerable power. Drink Date: 2017-2027. Score: 92+ (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, Aug. 30, 2016)

GUASTAFERRO TAURASI PRIMUM RISERVA 2006
DOCG

499277 (XD) 750mL $62.00

TASTING NOTE: Mature dark-skinned berry, leather, underbrush and dark spice are some of the aromas that emerge on this fantastic red. Made from ungrafted vines between 150 and 200 years old, the powerful yet polished palate delivers mature black cherry, crushed raspberry, cinnamon, licorice and white pepper alongside firm, velvety tannins. This still needs time to fully develop. Drink 2018-2031. Ranked no. 17 on the 2016 Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Cellar Selections. Score: 97 (Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, March 2016)

OVELLO VIGNA LORETO BARBARESCO 2013
DOCG

497644 (XD) 750mL $68.00

TASTING NOTE: Violet, menthol mint, red-berry and dark-spice aromas lift from the glass along with a hint of toast. The delicious, chewy palate doles out juicy black cherry, vanilla and star anise alongside firm, polished tannins that leave soothing, velvety texture but also give it structure. Hold for even more complexity. Drink 2018-2023. Cellar Selection. Score: 94 (Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, Oct. 2016)

BEL COLLE SIMPOSIO BAROLO 2012
DOCG

493742 (XD) 750mL $54.00

TASTING NOTE: Enticing scents of ripe berry, underbrush, grilled herb and eucalyptus mingle together along with an underlying fragrance of rose petal. Elegant and fresh, the impeccably balanced palate delivers tart red cherry, cake spice, white pepper and mineral nuances alongside polished tannins. Drink 2018-2028. Score: 95 (Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, Oct. 2016)

DAMILANO CANNUBI BAROLO 2011
DOCG

267872 (XD) 750mL $90.00

TASTING NOTE: Fragrant blue flower, perfumed berry, leather, cake spice and a balsamic note are some of the scents you'll find on this gorgeous, forward Barolo. The delicious palate offers raspberry, wild cherry, cinnamon, white pepper clove and tobacco. Ripe, polished tannins make this already accessible but it will also age well for a decade or more. Enjoy 2016-2023. Ranked no. 68 in the 2015 Wine Enthusiast Top 100. Score: 95 (Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, Oct. 2015)

MARCHESI DE' FRESCOBALDI TENUTA DI CASTIGLIONI 2014
IGT Toscana

474759 (D) 1500mL $45.00

From the iconic Marchesi de' Frescobaldi, producers of quality wines for more than 700 years, this is a predominantly Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with deftly incorporated Sangiovese. Crafted with an unmistakably modern character, it doesn't sacrifice provenance to achieve its silky and stylish appeal. This is the large format of our popular Essentials product (+145920). You can expect this to offer impressive ripe cherry with spice, earth and vanilla tones. Enjoy with grilled lamb.

FONTODI VIGNA DEL SORBO GRAN SELEZIONE CHIANTI CLASSICO 2013
DOCG

963827 (XD) 750mL $81.00

TASTING NOTE: A vivid, expressive wine, Fontodi's 2013 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo is tremendous. That is the good news. The not so good news, if I can say that, is that the 2013 is likely to require a number of years before it can be truly appreciated, much less enjoyed. Vertical and explosive on the palate, the 2013 is a huge wine. Black cherry, plum, graphite, licorice and dark spices emerge over time, but only with great reluctance. Readers will have to be very patient with the 2013. A host of violet, lavender, menthol and dark spices wrap around the huge, tightly wound finish. Drinking window: 2023-2043. Score: 98+ (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, Oct. 2016)

PODERE PROSPERO BOLGHERI ROSSO 2013
DOC

499293 (XD) 750mL $51.00

TASTING NOTE: This is a great first effort from a new winery. The Podere Prospero 2013 Bolgheri Rosso is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Only 4,800 bottles are made. It opens to thick and luscious concentration with soft lines and rich texture. The wine offers ripe flavors of dark fruit, black cherry, spice, leather and tobacco. Drink Date: 2016-2022. Score: 91+ (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, Oct. 28, 2016)

POLIZIANO ASINONE VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO 2013
DOCG

952473 (XD) 750mL $52.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2013 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Asinone is impeccable. Dark red and bluish-hued notes abound. There is an element of weightlessness to the 2013 that is quite appealing. Lavender, licorice, cloves and mint are some of the nuances that develop in the glass. The 2013 is not a blockbuster, as some previous editions have been, rather it is a wine built on finesse. Drinking window: 2018-2033. Score: 94 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, Nov. 2016)

CASTELLO DI NIPOZZANO MONTESODI 2012
IGT Toscana

304501 (D) 750mL $51.00

TASTING NOTE: Attractive ripe fruit with citrus undertones and dried berry character. Full-bodied yet balanced and delicate. Firm tannins and tangy acidity. Drink or hold. Score: 93 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Aug. 5, 2015)

UCCELLIERA BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 2011
DOCG

451559 (XD) 750mL $78.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino shows an impressive level of richness and density that starts with a long succession of black fruit aromas, dried cherry, spice, leather and tobacco. There are evident hints of the warm vintage that become apparent thanks to the blackness of the fruit and the general softness of the aromas. The wine's texture is yielding and dense with extra layers of plump fruit and chewy richness. This the proverbial "restaurant Brunello" that will drink beautifully in the near and medium-term. It already tastes spectacular and is beautifully fleshed out at this young age. Drink Date: 2017-2030. Score: 95 (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, March 3, 2016)

MONTECI COSTA DELLE CORONE AMARONE 2008
DOCG

497255 (XD) 750mL $72.00

TASTING NOTE: This compelling Amarone has an earthy fragrance of moist earth, dark fruits, leather and meat juices. The palate delivers ripe black cherry flavor, with velvety, brooding tannins and hints of raisin dusted with white pepper and cinnamon. This already has great depth but drink after 2016 for more complexity. Cellar Selection. Score: 92 (Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, Nov. 2013)

ESPORÃO PRIVATE SELECTION RED 2011
DOC Alentejo

599357 (XD) 750mL $66.00

TASTING NOTE: Fermented in open-top tanks, this dense and beautifully concentrated wine is rich and structured while remaining sophisticated. Although it is still young, it's supported by ripe, intense black fruits and balanced acidity. This has a long way to develop, so drink from 2018. Score: 94 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 2015)

THALARN 2014
DO Costers del Segre

499244 (XD) 750mL $60.00

TASTING NOTE: One of my favorite Syrahs from Spain has to be the 2014 Thalarn, named after the parish of Tremp in the Pyrenees where the estate is located. It fermented in different vessels, oak foudres, stone lagares and stainless steel vats with malolactic and one year élevage in brand new French oak barrels. It's a cool climate Syrah à la Norhtern Rhône, complex and intense with marked floral and spicy aromas and with a lively palate that shows remarkably fresh, even if the acidity as per the analysis is not that high. It's a slightly warmer and riper than 2013, but sometimes Syrah suffers too much in cold years... This is open and expressive, faintly balsamic, peppery and with a mixture of violets, sour cherries, a touch of smoke. The palate shows good balance and some bittersweet flavors, with very fine tannins, great intensity and length. Drink Date: 2016-2023. Score: 95 (Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com, Oct. 28, 2016)

CHOBEO DE PECINA 2009
DOCa Rioja

499319 (XD) 750mL $52.00

TASTING NOTE: Intense nose of dried strawberries enhanced by herbal and savory undertones. Rich and full with beautiful ripe red fruit on the palate, soft tannins and a long, enticing, fruity finish. Classic! Drink now. Score: 95 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Dec. 2016)

HIDDEN BENCH LOCUST LANE PINOT NOIR 2013
Unfiltered, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment

497388 (XD) 750mL $48.00

TASTING NOTE: Locust Lane is the "home" vineyard adjacent to the winery on Beamsville Bench, one of three sites the winery owns. This is an intriguing, edgy pinot not quite ready for prime time. Loved the lifted, fragrant spice, sour cherry, fresh mint, herbs and somewhat sappy nose. It's medium weight, edgy and intense with very firm acidity from a vintage that may go down as one of best for Ontario pinot. It's tannic and not yet showing much charm, but it is impressive. Wait for it! Best 2018 to 2023. Score: 92 (David Lawrason, winealign.com, July 15, 2016)

BROKENWOOD SHIRAZ 2014
Hunter Valley

599829 (XD) 750mL $45.00

TASTING NOTE: Not, as one might imagine, a regional blend from many sources, but from young vines on the Graveyard Vineyard and declassified wines from the original plantings. Vivid crimson, it is a seriously good shiraz, with dark red fruits enriched with a sauce of French oak and peppered with the firm tannins that will protect its longevity: a bare minimum of 30 years. Drink By: 2044. Score: 95 (James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au, Oct. 6, 2016)

TWO HANDS SECRET BLOCK SINGLE VINEYARD SHIRAZ 2014
Moppa Hills, Barossa Valley

418681 (XD) 750mL $113.00

TASTING NOTE: Dense and dark, with white pepper, coffee and black olive flavors surrounding a core of brambly wild blackberry. Despite the intensity of the flavors, the tannins are plush and supple. The finish lingers effortlessly and elegantly. Drink now through 2030. Score: 94 (MaryAnn Worobiec, winespectator.com, July 31, 2016)

ST. HALLETT OLD BLOCK SHIRAZ 2013
Barossa Valley

728477 (XD) 750mL $82.00

TASTING NOTE: A picture of good health, balance, flavour and length. It bristles with freshness, with power, with authority. The fruit - blueberry and blackberry, splashed with earth and ground coffee - is soft, but the tannin is ropey and firm, like arms around a bountiful harvest. A very long life is in store. Special Value. Drink By: 2040. Score: 97 (James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au, Aug. 11, 2016)

STELLA BELLA SERIE LUMINOSA CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2013
Margaret River

492942 (XD) 750mL $66.00

TASTING NOTE: The three-tier system of Stella Bella is managed with great skill and considerable experience. The wine is not based on weight or size, but on finesse, length, finish and aftertaste all harmoniously balanced. Drink By: 2038. Score: 97 (James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au, Aug. 11, 2016)

RIDGE MONTE BELLO CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014
Santa Cruz Mountains

444216 (XD) 750mL $217.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2014 Monte Bello is bright, precise and finely sculpted throughout, with a slightly more reddish leaning flavor profile than is found in some of the surrounding vintages. In 2014, Monte Bello is built on bright, pulsating acidity and energy. Relative to recent vintages such as 2012, 2013 and 2015, the 2014 is a bit compact and tightly wound. The slightly nervous style is likely to require at least a decade to be fully appreciated. In 2014, the blend is more typical of Monte Bello than the Cabernet-dominated 2013, with a greater role for Merlot and other complementary grapes. The only real issue with the 2014 is that it is sandwiched between two truly epic vintages. Drinking window: 2026-2044. Score: 96 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, June 2016)

DOMINUS 2013
Napa Valley

498923 (XD) 750mL $410.00

Robert Parker awarded this wine a rating of (96-100) calling it "Haunting... [and possessing] a velvety richness and seamlessness...exceptionally elegant and pure...' and giving it a drinking window of 25-30+ years. (robertparker.com, Oct. 30, 2014)

TASTING NOTE: The 2013 Dominus overwhelms all the senses with its magnificent overall balance and towering intensity. Deep and nearly impenetrable in the glass, the 2013 boasts off the charts dry extract and overall power. Violets, smoke, black cherries, menthol, incense, crème de cassis and dark spices are some of the many signatures that take shape in the glass. Even better in bottle than it was in barrel, the 2013 is utterly magnificent. This is a remarkably vivid, nuanced wine considering its sheer size. Score: 100 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, Oct. 2015)

DONELAN CUVÉE CHRISTINE SYRAH 2013
Sonoma County

508390 (XD) 750mL $98.00

TASTING NOTE: A bold, explosive wine, the 2013 Syrah Cuvée Christine possesses striking, vivid aromatics, pulsating energy and exceptional balance. Rose petal, blood orange, pomegranate, exotic spice and herbs are all bright and beautifully delineated in the glass. There is a good deal of grip to the tannins, so readers should plan on cellaring the 2013 for at least a few years. Drinking window: 2018-2025. Score: 96 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, Feb. 2016)

DUNN CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2013
Napa Valley

709501 (D) 750mL $156.00

TASTING NOTE: The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is a big, unctuous wine with huge fruit that nearly buries the tannins. Dark red cherry, plum, mint, licorice, new leather and spices flesh out in a rich, dense wine endowed with exceptional balance. This is an unusually sweet, almost flamboyant wine from Dunn, and yet all the elements are impeccably balanced. Drinking window: 2020-2043. Score: 94 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, Dec. 2016)

RODNEY STRONG ALEXANDER'S CROWN SINGLE VINEYARD CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2013
Alexander Valley

329961 (XD) 750mL $100.00

TASTING NOTE: A famous wine from the early days of The Wine Advocate, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander's Crown Single Vineyard comes from a lower elevation of 250 to 360 feet. The wine displays broad, sweet crème de cassis, black cherry and blueberry fruit, some licorice, graphite, a full-bodied mouthfeel, and outstanding length and purity. This is a beauty, and makes me think back to the great 1974, which was the first one I remember tasting. Drink Date: 2016-2036. Score: 94 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, March 3, 2016)

TREFETHEN FAMILY VINEYARDS CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2013
Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley

95752 (XD) 750mL $92.00

TASTING NOTE: Classic producer makes a beautiful red. Bright aromas of blueberries, raspberries and black licorice. Full-bodied, firm and silky. Wet earth, bark and mineral undertones. Fantastic now but better in 2018. Score: 93 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Jan. 15, 2016)

CLARK-CLAUDON ETERNITY CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2012
Napa Valley

508275 (XD) 750mL $215.00

TASTING NOTE: This may be the finest wine I have ever tasted from Clark-Claudon Vineyards. The inky/purple-colored 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Eternity (97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot) exhibits a beautiful perfume of crème de cassis, blueberries, boysenberries and spring flowers. This dense, full-bodied wine possesses good freshness, tremendous opulence and richness, and a long finish. Drink this beauty over the next 15 or more years. Score: 95 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, Oct. 30, 2014)

RAVENSWOOD BELLONI SINGLE VINEYARD ZINFANDEL 2012
Russian River Valley

672741 (XD) 750mL $47.00

TASTING NOTE: One of our favorite Ravenswood Bellonis to date, this immensely appealing effort is absolutely brimming with very pure, keenly varietal, berry-like fruit, and, while it does not stint on ripeness, neither is it defined by it. It is moderately full-bodied and solidly structured with plenty of flesh and not a hint of extra fat. It is so forthright and juicy that it can be enjoyed in its youth, but, make no mistake, this one is guaranteed to repay keeping and should grow for years. Score: 95 (Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wines, Jan. 2015)

SPRING MOUNTAIN ESTATE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2012
Napa Valley

360933 (XD) 750mL $100.00

TASTING NOTE: This has a lovely dusty character with currant, tile and sweet tobacco. Full body, chewy and beautiful tannins. Wonderful austerity yet softness. Flavorful finish. Delicious now but shows finesse and length. Better in 2019 but so gorgeous already. Score: 95 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, May 3, 2016)

PELLET ESTATE SUNCHASE VINEYARD CHARDONNAY 2013
Sonoma Coast

508259 (XD) 750mL $112.00

TASTING NOTE: In contrast to the 2013 Unoaked, the 2013 Chardonnay Sun Chase Vineyards has a slightly richer style with a hint of hazelnut and brioche, medium to full body and comes across like a premier cru or possibly a grand cru from Puligny Montrachet. It has loads of minerality, good acidity and plenty of flesh and richness. This is impressive wine and should drink well for up to a decade. Score: 94 (Robert Parker Jr., robertparker.com, March 3, 2016)

DOMAINE SERENE YAMHILL CUVÉE PINOT NOIR 2013
Willamette Valley

186858 (XD) 750mL $75.00

TASTING NOTE: This entry-level Pinot from Domaine Serene outshines more than a few Oregon reserves. It's splendidly clear, refined and aromatic, with a tantalizingly smoky note in play. There is a pleasing dusty character to the cherry fruit and the finish is dappled with highlights of cinnamon toast. It's flat-out irresistible. Editors' Choice. Score: 92 (Paul Gregutt, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 2016)

BETZ FAMILY WINERY PERE DE FAMILLE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2013
Columbia Valley

407312 (XD) 750mL $100.00

TASTING NOTE: A cuvee that continues to become more and more Cabernet Sauvignon dominated (Bob Betz loves Cabernet and think it's the top grape of Washington), the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Pere de Famille (89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot) is utterly seamless and elegant. It is full-bodied and open, with forward notes of cassis, crushed flowers, red currants and licorice. Where the 2014s are more exuberant and dense, this 2013 excels on its pretty, pure and overall elegant style. Drink it anytime over the coming 15+ years. Score: 94 (Jeb Dunnuck, robertparker.com, June 29, 2016)

GRAN PATRÓN BURDEOS AÑEJO TEQUILA

286690 750mL $700.00

Crafted from 100% Weber Blue Agave, this handmade Tequila is distilled twice and aged for a minimum of one year in used American oak before being distilled a third time and aged in new French oak -- it is then transferred again, this time to used Bordeaux barrels. The crowning touch to this meticulous process is the crystal bottle: each one polished, etched and numbered by hand. Textured, rich and pure, this will be an impressive and complex Tequila.
